Thanks. However, if enough people who didn't like that you stood up for certain things decided to gang together and all call you the same thing, it wouldn't make it true.

Absolutely true - and that applies to you, me and the US.

You have to be careful listening to vocal people with an axe to grinde and base your opinion on what I actually say and not what I'm alleged to have said. What matters is the reasons I give for saying something, not the reaon that someone else may want to portray.

While very true, Simon, I am referring to what you have actually said, that I've seen with my own eyes, what people's reactions were to it, on this board in those very threads.

Do you think that you were only unfairly criticized by malcontents who took your words out of context in all your posts? Or do you think it's possible for a reasonable person to disagree with how you stated some of your criticisms of America?

I think I am reasonable and I have been affected by - not your valid criticisms of the – but the manner in which you stated them. But enough. On with bringing down the WT one bite at a time.

Constant criticism from someone who neither resides here nor pays the taxes that living here incurs does little to overwhelm me with his patriotism. I think you're a hypocrite Simon and I'm not afraid to say it.

Simon, I get frustrated with Americans who blindly trust our government. I get frustrated by those who blindly trusted GW Bush and voted for him. He counted on that kind of vote. Now, a lot of those voters are waking up, the hard way to reality. It's not a pretty reality. I am praying this means that Jeb will never run for office.

Oh, c'mon. We all know who the true American patriots are. They're the ones driving the SUVs with the Bush/Cheney bumper stickers and the yellow "Support the troops" ribbons. Can you taste the irony?

O'come on - folks the only true patriots are those who love John Kerry and drive on snowy roads with rear wheel drive vintage Volvos.

So Badger. What would constant criticism of a forum owner by someone who does nothing to help run the site make someone?

Bush is a public servant and America's foreign policy affects the planet I live on and people I care about. That gives me every right to criticise as much as I like.

If you don't like it then tough.

Constantly and whenever we are in a state of emergency or some other crisis is going on you take the opportunity to hand out the criticism without prefacing your remarks to make it clear specifically which people in the country you are criticizing.

I always take Simon's comments as though he is in my court. I almost always agree with what he says about America. I assume he is not talking about the individual Americans, but the governement and those who are making such poor decisions for the rest of us.

I was appalled and embarrassed for my country, at the lack of response and the horrible delays, after the hurricane, but I was also very impressed by The President's speech on Thursday, where he accepted the blame, and now is going to fix it. I hope he does. He has done very little to impress me in his 5 years. Most of the time I can't stand to even listen to him, but when he is sincere, that sincerity comes through.

We love to listen to him and clips of him are often on the radio ... granted, it's often comedy shows, but at least his voice is being heard

You are right about me speaking more about America and less about Americans ... maybe I don't make that clear enough? Even when Americans are discussed it's usually from the aspect of American society rathen than them as individual people.
