90 and 99 do not change symbols because there is no way you could come up with anything higher than 81. If you chose 99 your sum would be 18. 18 from 99 is 81!! You can't get anything less than a nine either!

If you choose 9, you will have to subtract 9. That will give you 0. It is possible to get less than 9.

The instructions specify that you select a two-digit number. You therefore are not allowed to choose 9, and therefore cannot validly get a result less than 9.

I don't know what to tell ya'. I've tried four times already and it still hasn't guessed mine.
Seeing as it doesn't 'guess' anything, there must be a problem with your ability to add, subtract and/or find an item in a table.

Missed that, Jeffro. Thanks, you are right. I apologize, alreadygone. Well, either way 0 is one of the ones that match the others in the series each time even though you can never get it, so it seems at one time you could choose any number.
Maybe they changed it because the creators of the site figured out that when they included single digit numbers people caught on too quickly to the trick?

scully was right, it is based on the properties of 9. The only thing is that 0 is included and 81 is the highest answer possible.
