CT Russell, a Great Pyramid Faker!

I work in a book store in the religion/philosophy section. We buy hundreds of books a day. Among them are new and old books on a wide-range of religious "fringe" subjects and opinions. I like to sit in the break room and scan these books for enticing tidbits of this and that.

Eventually it dawned on me that almost all religious writers fall into one of three categories of wild-eyed fanatic.

    Slight, Medium and way gone.

Jehovah's Witness are way gone, but, they are not that way about the rest of their everyday life. That is what is so deceptive when you meet one and have a conversation.

The entire theory of the Faithful and Discreet Slave and the Anointed is just as nutty and unfounded as the Pyramid nonsense. But, it is the lynchpin that holds the rest of the religion together. So, they aren't going to be able to jettison it until forced to.

Just as there actually was (and is) a Great Pyramid; there was a WWI in 1914. But, that is where the sensible part of the theory commences and ends. Beyond the actuality there is nothing at all.

You can't find one JW in 10 who can give even a faint semblance of an explanation of either 1914 "proof" or Faithful and Discreet Slave "class" rulership.

Yet--it is the foundation of all else!

How many Bible Students could explain the Great Pyramid measurements/prophecy? None. They just pointed to the writings in the STUDIES IN THE SCRIPTURES the same as JW's today point to Watchtower articles and official publications for support. It is pure TRUST. Blind faith. Empty heads and noble hearts.

Pathetic; no matter how you look at it.

Studies in the Scriptures, Volume 3, "Thy Kingdom Come" containing the pyramid chapter was published in 1890.

Here is a letter written to The Watchtower and published October 1891 in the magazine.

    New York.

DEAR BROTHER AND SISTER RUSSELL:--I received the third volume of DAWN, and have hurriedly read it through. I shall read it all over again carefully, probably several times. I am much pleased with it all, and especially was I interested in the chapter on the Great Pyramid. It is all wonderful! but like all Jehovah's works. Man could never have planned it. He is scarcely able to comprehend it. Just so with the Bible--when rightly understood it towers far above the ability of any finite mind, and can be comprehended only when the added grace of God is vouchsafed to its assistance.

I am more anxious than ever to send out "this Gospel of the Kingdom" to the hungry and thirsty children of God. I will send you $10. Please send me two copies of Vol. III., in paper, and one package of tracts, and apply the remainder for the spread of the Gospel.

We are doing what we can here. The letters are coming in daily asking for help. May God direct us wherever we may be doing the harvest work. You will, of course, understand what this work is doing for me. When we settle a matter for another by the sure Word, it is fixed in our own minds. Verily it is more blessed to give than to receive. In Christian love,

    MRS. J.H. PATTERSON.

So here is a reader that is calling the Great Pyramid one of Jehovah's works and saying Man cold never had planned it, and is ordering 2 more copies of the book! Plus, the writer says "keep the remainder for the spread of the Gospel"

This book was misleading people! Due largely to the made up "paper measurement" that Russell made to get the year 1874.

I personally would not feel well if people started to put such great weight in something that I just made up, but what does Russell do? Prints the letter in the Watchtower! as if he was proud of the results of his lack of integrity.

Do people here see what the implications of this "simple" creation of a number out of the air? It shows CT Russell for what he was, a deceiver, or a fool, or both.

Certainly he was proud of the praise he received for his books.

Russell might have thought he was "doing the Lord's work" but I believe he enjoyed the attention and fame he received from people. That was the reward he received from all his work.
