My uncle was born in 1914 and he is still alive....
So that generation didn't all die yet.

Not all individual representatives from the generation have to be dead for the generation to have passed away. The generations of today have so little in common with the generation that saw 1914 (were old enough to understand) that there is no point for comparison between the two beyond the physical human traits.
