they only printed a % of partakers not the actual amount?
No, they print the actual number.
during the wt study yesterday i had a confused look on my face the whole meeting.
more of a, wtf, face.
one paragraph says, "therefore, the number of partakers does not accurately indicate the number of anointed ones left on earth.".

is it just me or does it grind your gears when you see #bestlifeever hashtag after every damn jw post on fb and instagram?.
i rarely get on instagram anymore because i dont want to deal with the jw propaganda but i swear sometimes i just want to comment on one of those pics 'jw life is the worst life ever wake up already'.
does anyone else know what i'm talking about?
It's the same thing as them thinking they are the most loving people. The most honest people.
They believe it's true. Now they believe they have the best life ever as they take another depression pill.

Well, given that the number of partakers has risen year-by-year since around 2006 to just over 15,000, they've got to say something. It increased at the 2015 memorial alone over the 2014 memorial by over 1,000.
I get that, but they are out right saying the number is false. So the question is, why print it? You now have all JW's thinking and saying how it's false. The number is now completely pointless.
i'm hearing rumours of huge changes within the berkshire circuit here in the uk .
congregations being dispanded and kingdom halls closing down and being sold off.... official announcements within the next month apparently .
does anyone else have anymore info?.
And yet I still have to hear about all this expansion.......
Someone was praising the 1% growth the other day in their comment. If your 401k was growing at 1% you'd be pissed!

Nothing new. The same has been stated for years - though I admit not as clearly as this time, but still it is nothing new, and the numbers have been printed at the same time. So what's the worry?
They have openly admitted this time though that numbers are inaccurate. In the past they just said "some" may be mentally unstable. I've never heard them say or even worse, print, that the actual number is not correct.
If you told elders a few years ago that the number of anointed is inaccurate and wrong. They would form a JC and DF you on the spot.

One paragraph says, "Therefore, the number of partakers does not accurately indicate the number of anointed ones left on earth.". Then the review question asks, "Why should we not be worried about the number of those who eat the bread and drink the wine at the Memorial?—Rom. 9:11, 16.".
You had JW's commenting the whole meeting about how the number of partakers is inaccurate and not a true number of the actual anointed.
So either come the 2017 Year Book the number of partakers is gone or everyone will just think it's an inaccurate number. If they keep it, why even print it then? Your own publication says it's inaccurate and now your members think it's inaccurate. So are they just admitting the number is a load of crap and if so, why print it all now?
That was the most confused I've been at a meeting in a long time. Heck the generation teaching makes more sense then this article.
wow this is interesting!
i think how much emphasis this puts on "loyalty" shows their is an issue.
they're trying to plug the wholes as much and quickly as possible.
@thedepressedsoul - I don't disagree. My comment is related to whether the translation is accurate or not. It is for this case. For the past roughly two years I've been studying Koine and from my research it's accurate.
That said I absolutely see your point as well.
No worries! Thanks for bringing your insight into the conversation. I always enjoy reading peoples research!
it's just so weird to me.
for a group that is against idolatry so much and yet each person has to "touch" the bread and wine.. one lady was standing and holding a baby.
she called the server over just so she could put her thumb on the bread and wine.. did jesus ever clarify what he wanted them to do in remembrance of him?
That part was always weird to me, too. I thought it was nutty the way the servers would even hand the plate to the speaker who would (if he was not a partaker) just hand it right back. It was like he had to touch the plate and the cup. When I gave the Memorial talk, I would just shake my head "no" when the server offered me the emblems; I did not even touch the plate or the cup.
haha! Were you ever allowed to give a memorial talk again?
it's just so weird to me.

Did Jesus ever clarify what he wanted them to do in remembrance of him? When I read the account it comes off as he wanted people to more remember what he did and the whole sin issue. To take time to remember him giving his life.
The guy used illustrations for everything. Was the bread and wine simply another illustration? I would certainly think he didn't mean that every person had to literally touch the wine glass and bread plate or they would die a painful death at Armageddon.
The whole night has always weird'ed me out!

I found it interesting that they slipped inactive ones right in there with unbelievers like relatives, mates, and former students. If you're inactive it's like you've gone back beyond step on in da troof. I've just never seen them lumped into a group like that before.
They're coming after inactive ones! I have heard more about inactive ones as a JW in the last year then all the other years put together. They either want to bring them to "justice" or they know their numbers are in trouble and are trying to get them up with any means possible.
Shows how desperate they are. A few years ago they wouldn't have given inactive ones the time of day.
