  Which bible character do you hate the most?

  the more i think about it, the more i feel an extreme dislike for the apostle paul.

  he was on par with hitler in his treatment of the jews before he "saw the light".

  he replaced jesus teachings of love and mercy with a more legalistic, pharisaical concept of devotion to god.. any evil person can come to believe in god and worship him if the scales were literally and miraculously removed from his eyes.

  Can I say Jehovah?

  Anyway...

  I would say that Samson was one of the greatest assholes. During his wedding to a Philistine woman, he asked the groomsmen a riddle, which they failed to guess but ended up answering it by asking his wife to trick him into revealing the answer. He then became outraged, went to a city, & struck down 30 men, none of whom were at the wedding feast (WTF???) Subsequently, he lost his wife to his groomsman, then set fire to the Philistines' fields in revenge, which ultimately resulted in the death of both his wife & father-in-law. Then he embarked on a Philistine massacre, which served no purpose. He stupidly revealed the secret of the source of his strength to a prostitute, which let to his downfall. And this stupid man was supposedly a wise judge of Israel???

  Unbaptised son maybe asked to be in assembly ... Suggestions please!

  If he's not baptized, how can he be on an assembly part? I thought that was a requirement. Or no?

  Nope, you don't have to be baptized. I've seen unbaptized kids & young ones being used in demos / dramas. I was one of them myself!

  Disfellowshipping Sounds Wonderful to Me Now

  2 people were read out last week as disfellowshipped.

  of course now the announcement is read "so and so is no longer one of jehovahs witnesses".

  they read that statement twice, once for each of the names.

  As a JW, I actually loved it when people (none of whom were close to me) were disfellowshipped. Since JW's are expected to live up to high requirements (many man-made, as I now found out), I felt good that other people could not live up to these requirements, not just me!

  I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah

  listening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.

  every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.

  it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

  I don't mind Jehovah by itself, but not Jehovah's Witnesses or Jehovah God. I wondered why we are told to be close to God & view him as a father BUT at the same time we address him impersonally as Jehovah or God RATHER than call him something that signifies closeness & rapport such as addressing him affectionally as dad!

  Does a brother have to be appointed an MS to be an account servant?

  as many of you know, my ex-husband was removed as an elder for child abuse.

  i was told at the time he would never be reappointed in any capacity.

  yet i heard today he was appointed as an account servant.

  That's never heard of where I am. Usually the accounts servant is an elder or MS. It's possible for normal brothers here to serve as an assistant to the elder or MS in charge, but not to take on the main role. But things may be different where you are. Perhaps there really are no brothers available, so they have resorted to this desperate measure??

  Imagine those congs whose loans have almost been paid up!

  Say a cong has a year to go before their loan is fully paid. Their almost-paid up loan is forgiven but they have to contribute the same amount to the organization forever???

  Other inanities:
  - that it is really better NOT to preach as people who don't hear "the truth" are said to be given a resurrection rather than the poor saps who refused a paltry magazine and now merit everlasting destruction.

  Exactly my feelings! Also, I reasoned that the more I preached, the more bloodguilty I was as I was not able to follow up on all those who I called on. Giving them literature wasn't enough, if we don't follow up & they end up dying at Armageddon, it's still our fault as we were not thorough in accomplishing our ministry. So I said fuck that & quit service altogether!
