What I would like to see soon!
by John Aquila ini would like to see one or better two members of the governing body get disfellowshipped and they both go off to write books like ray franz exposing the cult to all the sexual scandals, the hidden agendas with the stock market investments, the lawsuits, the laying of long time bethel workers, hidden sins by the higher ups and all the other nasty skeletons in the watchtower closet..
what would be different today compared to rays time is that we now live in a social media world..
they would be invited to talk in the oprah winfrey show, ellen degeneres show, the view, dateline.

Sanderson seems to be one of the more decent ones. If anyone were to go, I think it might be Sandy... -

When I was a kid, I changed the afternoon field service times from 'pm' to 'am' on the large white board. Everyone looks at the board as it is a large board prominently displayed near the stage & the brother delivering the announcements would refer to it when announcing the meeting points for each field service group
The field service meeting times were written in large, bold letters. At the next meeting, I was eagerly anticipating the announcements as all eyes would be on the notice board. How disappointed I was when not a single person noticed! Damn. This went on for a few meetings, and all the while, nobody noticed! Unbelievable...
I couldn't stand it anymore. I wanted people to notice my "handiwork!" During the announcements one meeting when the field service times & locations were read out & all eyes were on the board, smart aleck me pointed the "mistake" out to my dad. I didn't anticipate his reaction though. He literally jumped out from his seat & dashed to the board in front of everyone to rectify the error! I was laughing my ass off. However, I was later on identified as the culprit & punished back home. Short-lived joy that was...

JWs have more good points than bad
by lsw1961 in1) many who were on the destructive path have been transformed by their teachings (this includes me who was once vicious, and presumptuous and atheistic).
2) equal monthly pay to all members of the bethel community regardless of whether they are bc members or sweepers.
this is something that still remains as an unattainable dream for the world.

Isw1961:
All the five points I presented as good points are really good points which you will agree later if not now. Take your own time and try to view it with an open mind. Humans are designed in a unique way that they can see something as good or bad if viewed from above, totally detached. The more detached you are, the better your vision will be! Try this, and you will be amazed at the results.Isw1961... are you listening to your own advice to view things with an open mind? Can you detach yourself from the JW perspective? The more detached you are, the better your vision will be! Try this, and you will be amazed at the results. =)

Restructuring Bethel
by LaFrancia inan announcement to all congregation in italy :.
the project of a new bethel in italy was allocated .
the number of temporary special pioneers will be reduced significantly.
-
Divergent
The temporary special pioneer arrangement was established to serve as a stepping stone to encourage more to take up special pioneering. Since they are currently cutting down on special pioneers & don't need any more, it would only make sense for them to drastically reduce the number of temporary special pioneer applicants! -

3 local needs parts on service meeting.
by hoser init is scheduled on our service meeting next week to have 3 local needs parts.
local needs 1 , local needs 2 and local needs 3.

Here's the problem for me - the local needs part DOESN'T deal with the actual local needs of the congregation. Like: Elderly / disabled / depressed ones needing assistance & care, the problem of single sisters who cannot find any suitable brothers to marry, the importance of cultivating a spirit of love in the congregation INSTEAD of having a judgemental attitude, etc. The local needs part should deal with relevant problems & be solution orientated, focusing on finding practical & immediate solutions to the problems addressed, INSTEAD of the usual read the Bible, pray more, continue to attend meetings & participate in field service, DO MORE, wait on Jehovah crap! -

Indoctrination and subordination
by Tornintwo inthere are so many gems in in search of christian freedom but i thought this section in 'indoctrination and subordination' was excellent, summing things up brilliantly, worth highlighting for anyone who hasn't read the book;.
"the sum of the evidence is, then, that although no extreme physical isolation occurs, a very effective mental isolation is pro- duced by the organizations interpretation placed on jesus words about not being part of the world.
the community of believers becomes quite insulated and intellectually sealed off from any source of scriptural material other than that coming from the one voice, that of the organization.

As a rule the longer one is associated with the organization the more concentrated his or her social contacts are, the more restricted friendships are to those within the organization. Even “worldly” relatives, meaning non-Witness relatives, are often gradually shunted off to a rather cool and distant relationship.
This was true in my case. As a born-in, my life revolved around the organization & I didn't have much chance in establishing close friendships elsewhere. Then I learned TTATT & discovered that the people who I thought were my friends were actually NOT! Just a little while back, I had non-JW acquaintances & JW friends. NOW, I have non-JW FRIENDS & JW acquaintances!

Do You Think 10% Tithing is Coming?
by xjwsrock infirstly, there are cash flow problems in wt town.
i don't think it's necessary to list all the cutbacks and layoffs, but there have been many.. their thirst for money seems higher too in my opinion.
more entitled may be a better way of putting it.

Tithing has already been enforced upon congregations in a way, just not upon the individual publisher
If they ever try to implement tithing for individuals, there would be a great outcry & the subsequent damage would be irreversible. I believe that such an outrageous move would have a reverse effect - where many who give would actually stop giving in protest. I believe that it would also lead to a start in global decline, instead of the decline that mainly affects developed & affluent Western countries
I would actually love to see the organization try to implement tithing. Am sure many would wake up as a result!
