Talking to a wall
by ivanatahan inwhy must these people be figurative walls when talking about the lies of the jw cult?.
the other day, i had a conversation with my mother.
we started talking about the election and how the candidates differ (me being a supporter of bernie).

I get the "It's not a perfect religion, but it's still the best there is" excuse everytime I talk to my mum. Followed by "Where else would we go to?" I feel like I'm talking to a wall too! -

Today's Text Is A Joke - Be Humble And Consider Others Superior???!
by Divergent inthursday, march 17. with humility consider others superior to you.—phil.
2:3.. we appreciate it when people are straightforward yet tactful when approaching us.
how can we extend the same courtesy to those we meet in our ministry?

Somehow I'm a JW, but don't fit in....not that I'm trying....I do what I do...I go out in the ministry, spend time with the friends, go to my meetings, do my lessons...& live my life
That was the situation I was in after I learned TTATT, until I REALLY couldn't take it anymore & faded. I'm guessing you are stuck in the org because of family?

Elders at the gates
by Gorbatchov inmy lovely wife warned me from the upper floor: close the windows, brother x is at the front door.
so, there they are again, for their required visit before the memorial.
i don't like it, you never hear from them, only in the week before the memorial.

The Modern Exodus: Perception or Reality?
by Hadriel ini'm completely new at this however just in my joining this forum and of course interacting with others i can't help but notice what appears to be a significant exodus from the organization.. for those of you that have long been in this game have you seen this before?
i'm really curious and we should refrain from the sensational, but is what we're seeing different than in years past?.
it sure seems like so so many are waking and leaving.

Grouped together here, it might seem that there is a mass exodus. However, the reality is that different individuals are waking up at different times at different locations all around the world. We have yet to see a mass exodus involving a large number of individuals in one place - an entire congregation leaving, for example. The last time that happened was after the failed 1975 prophecy
The growth definitely has slowed, as evidenced by the 2015 worldwide work statistics, but there is still a bit of growth. If most countries show a negative growth & there is a significant decrease of a few hundred thousand publishers in the overall figure (which I hope would happen one day), then we are talking about a REAL mass exodus!

Never Allowed to be Myself
by NeverAllowestobeMyself inso my handle has a typo, it is supposed to be never allowed to be myself but i'm okay with that because it is kind of symbolic of my situation.
as a born-in i have always had expectations forced on me, this is what you are to think, feel and do as a jehovah's witness.
my earliest memories involve being upset that i would die at armageddon because i was bad.

As a born-in I have always had expectations forced on me, this is what you are to think, feel and do as a Jehovah's Witness. My earliest memories involve being upset that I would die at Armageddon because I was bad. I just never have fit in, even at the tender age of 5.
I'm a born-in too & I can relate to this part very well! As a kid, I had unpleasant thoughts of dying at Armageddon for the stupidest reasons - biting my tongue & accidentally tasting blood, masturbating, watching porn, celebrating my friends' birthdays at school & other festivals, saluting the flag (I was never good at making a stand when it came to stupid things like these), not giving a witness to my non-JW friends & not calling back on RV's in the ministry (bloodguilt!), etc. A religion who can make a young kid feel bloodguilty is a sick religion!
On the positive side, I made it out eventually & so can you also. Congrats on your enlightenment & hope that you can make it out soon together with your family! =)

Proof for the resurrection of Chrisr...
by The Rebel inposted on friends :-) anyway i hope everyone agrees even in disagreement, the discussion can be fruitful.
personally i usually find the atheism views more compelling than the christian view point, however i value both insights and conversations when the comments are respectful.. as it's coming up to eater, could i therefore pose the question to christians can you offer compelling evidence for the resurrection of christ?
evidence is a fact or a set of facts, or maybe i should rephrase my question " the resurrection is reasonable to hold to because of reasonable evidence that can be submitted for that conclusion" .

Err... it's true because there were many eyewitnesses. The Bible says so. And the Bible is the word of God, so it is truth!
