This little sheep ain't lost, she escaped her captors.
There isn't any amount of bs broadcasting spin that will erase the pain of being in that hateful cult, nor make me want to go back for more.

BN - can you at least tell us what you like, so we can see what all the fuss is about.
Also - why on earth is a sister calling the home of a brother and enquiring after him through his dfed son ?
This is weird even by dub standards of weird.

WT is a human rights violator according to the definition of state.gov and USA law - time for us to start putting pressure in lawmakers!
by EndofMysteries inreligious freedom taken from http://www.state.gov/j/drl/rls/irf/religiousfreedom/index.htm#wrapper.
quotingdirectly from the article...."it is the responsibility of governments to safeguard universal human rights and fundamental freedoms, including the right to life and the freedom of conscience, belief, practice, worship, and to explain and change ones faith.........people cannot enjoy religious freedom unless they have both the right to express their beliefs freely and change their religion without facing persecution, violence, or discrimination.... (ask yourself if the wt article i'm quoting next is allowing the freedom to change religion without discrimination and persecution.
so with that being said.....is the wt protecting religious freedom?

True, hybridous, there is always that great persuader- filthy luca.
We need the biggest, baddest, richest lobby group in the land.
Hmm, I think that group is busy.

How to handle invites to dinner after Sunday meeting?
by FadeToBlack ini have not been to a meeting for over a year.
yesterday, when my wife returned from the 1 day assembly, i got an invite for dinner next sunday.
i said i would think about it, to be honest, as nice as the people are, it would just be boring listening to their comments about everything jw.

Go with your gut, no matter how "nice" the "friends" are, they are still indoctrinated, so you won't be free to relax and be yourself.
But, don't go out of obligation, I'm assuming you don't owe them anything.

The only reason Governments or politicians would care is if votes were involved and JWs don't vote.
Or the people who do vote, and care about the issue, were sufficient in number to affect votes

Honestly, Do You Still Act or Think Like a JW?
by minimus inor do traces or attitudes still rear its ugly head of your past involvement with the witnesses?
-

I think it's easy to recognize and root out the obvious JWisms in our behaviors. But there are automatic, knee-jerk thoughts, feelings and reactions that are related to our indoctrination that we may not recognize in ourselves.
I find post-cult defensiveness and taking myself too seriously, is a cult hangover I have to constantly pull myself up on.

I think being disfellowshipped causes many to question their beliefs and examine the facts for the first time in their lives.

AGM 2015: "New Light"
by Londo111 ini could only manage to watch the part of the antitypical babylonian exile not being from 1914-1919, but from some time in the second century to 1919..
for the interest on keeping tabs what family and former friends are being taught...what other new light was given?
specifically, what is the new light in regard the mark?.

Dropping 1914? Possible, entirely possible. But Lett did reiterate 607 in that talk. -

Tenacious- I was thinking more along the lines of future adjusments like, claiming current WT woes are discipline on the congregations from Jehovah, and blaming the brothers for "tolerating apostates."
I don't know exactly, I'm just spitballing I spose, and the idea in my head hasn't fully formed yet, but something sounded odd about the whole thing.
