Who gets followed up on and how seriously they view it seems to depend upon the conscientiousness of the local BOE and congregation. Sounds like your local elders have always been indifferent to your situation.

The Modern Exodus: Perception or Reality?
by Hadriel ini'm completely new at this however just in my joining this forum and of course interacting with others i can't help but notice what appears to be a significant exodus from the organization.. for those of you that have long been in this game have you seen this before?
i'm really curious and we should refrain from the sensational, but is what we're seeing different than in years past?.
it sure seems like so so many are waking and leaving.

I 'm sure the WT in it's current state will cause more to wake up maybe not an all in one mass exit but more like a "hundredth monkey" situation.
That would get the attention of the powers that be and there would likely see all manner of policy and doctrinal acrobatics in a very short space of time.

And whatever you do don't sprinkle it with garlic powder, drop it in the mud or accidently squirt it all over with deadly poison!!

Never Allowed to be Myself
by NeverAllowestobeMyself inso my handle has a typo, it is supposed to be never allowed to be myself but i'm okay with that because it is kind of symbolic of my situation.
as a born-in i have always had expectations forced on me, this is what you are to think, feel and do as a jehovah's witness.
my earliest memories involve being upset that i would die at armageddon because i was bad.

Oh yes, I feel for you. I think many that were raised as JWs have a problem with emotional honesty and assertiveness, so it's great you realize this and have decided to start being yourself.
Many don't ever stop lying to themselves and others about what they really think, feel, want and don't want etc and will continue to be unhappy as a result. It may not always be prudent to say what you really think out loud, but always be honest with yourself. It's your choice.
All the best with your awakening, the more you wake up to the more you will find.

JW related collective nouns
by Simon inenglish is a great language, especially when it comes to collective nouns.
a "murder" of crows is just fantastic as is a "mob" of meerkats.
a "colony" of ants, a "pride" of lions.

What an odd question. Why on earth do you need permission from strangers an internet forum on what to read?

Dan Sydlik
by done4good inmorning warship - he was the only restraint and i'm not saying that lightly.
i know there are a dozen others here who were in bethel back in the early 2000's who know what i'm talking about.
he actually kept me thinking this was jehovah's org because of his sincerity as if the holy spirit was operating in him.

My only experience with Bro Sydlik was hearing his talks, but he was one of my favorite speakers. He seemed warm intelligent and genuine. There weren't many like him but the ones that were kept me hanging on to the hope that the organization itself was good and there were just a "few bad apples," a theory to which I subscribed to for a long time before realizing it was the barrel itself that was turning the apples bad.

The memorial beauty pageant
by BlackWolf insince the memorial is coming up soon and its about time for me to go shopping for a new memorial ( aka easter) dress, i've realized what the memorial really is for us teenage girls, a beauty pageant!
the memorial is the day i spend painting my nails, curling my hair, and carefully applying makeup because my mother says i have to "represent jehovah" and look my best.
in reality its just to impress the newcomers and to compete with the other girls.

I think the JW memorial dress ups were fun for an entrance but awfully uncomfortable and impractical for a whole meeting.
Skirts that ride up, stockings that pinch, constantly checking cleavage to make sure your boobs aren't starting to escape over the top of your bra lest you get the evil-eye from an old sister or the leer-eye from one of the emblem server brothers. Ugh!! The lame vanity of it all!! So glad to be out.
