How to wind up a JW
by slimboyfat intell him that jesus probably didn't get married or it would have mentioned it in the bible, but at the same time we can't be 100% sure he didn't get married because it doesn't specifically say he didn't get married.
stand back watch fireworks.. i thought it was a pretty reasonable thing to say.

You should have said it was a question from readers from a while ago or possibly an awake since they are intended for the public, you can introduce a lot of subversive thoughts by claiming a long lost question from readers. -

Differences Between Ex-JWs
by David_Jay inwe are not all the same--a real "duh, david!
so i figured if i didn't feel that sense of solidarity that seems missing among the debating, then i was part of the problem.
i'm responsible for making this place feel like a support and place of solidarity, just as much as anyone else.. but approaches i tried didn't work until i shut up for a while.

Nice piece you have written and yes it's a journey of discovery to get to the point when you appreciate differences rather than judge people on them. Rich tapestry yada yada and all.
But I have to say the whole born ins vs converts rivalry always bothered me when I was in.
Is that like jew vs gentile, bloodline/birthright vs peasant stock?
Does that turn into christian ex-jw vs athiest ex-jw once we become ex-jw?
I hated the snobbery of JW land and I still hate snobbery.
I remember for a few years there they would introduce speakers on the then DCs as ".... Third generation JW Bro So and So will now ....... " ugh give me a break!! Jws have got to be snobs of the worst kind.

JW Witnessing Trolleys. To approach or ignore what is your preference and why?
by KateWild ini saw two brothers this morning next to the main train station in liverpool city centre this morning.
they were not actively approaching anyone.
what i found strange was that they were from a cong that has different territory, so i don't know why they were there.. anyway i knew them both, and they know i was df'd, i was in my car and couldn't park up for a chat, but i did beep and wave to them as i drove passed and they waved back.

Trashing books may actually help WT by adding to the numbers they use to support their claim of being a charity.
Any books trashed not are counted as placements.

The evil social control study experiment known as WT has reached it's limits and found it's half-life and we are beginning to see the effects wearing off worldwide ? ?

Dress and grooming
by stuckinarut2 ini know this is an old topic, but it came to mind again.... yes it is appropriate for people to dress neatly and respectfully for a dignified religious gathering, but why does it have to be a full suit with collared shirt and tie?.
why does it have to be a full dress or skirt and jacket?.
sure, we would find it distasteful for a person to arrive in swimwear or work overalls or other inappropriate attire, but why does it have to conform to strict standards?.

Hahaha..me at a meeting...yeah good one😉
Don't worry stuck, I have absolutely no intention of going to a meeting I was merely envisioning a hypothetical scenario to make the point that the WT has no real power.
Thanks for your kindly advice though. ☺

That's the point, that's the worst they could do, but, how they view me doesn't scare me anymore.
Also, if alot of people started pushing the envelope on these rules what could they do- put out a sternly worded WT.

I actually thought this the other day and wondered what would happen if I went back to meetings but wore jeans or pants everytime I went and see what would happen. If they told me to change into a skirt and I said something like "no thanks I'm fine in what I'm wearing."
I mean what could they do? Would they really push it or just let it go?
It would be an interesting test case, would they post a dress code sign at the entrance to the K H?
I doubt they would have the nads to do anything.

Just called into the Kingdom Hall, Speaker said he couldn't tell if anyone was listening to his talk... Well I was and what a joke
by Greybeard injust called into the kingdom hall, speaker said he couldn't tell if anyone was listening to his talk now that everyone uses electronic devices and nobody laughed... well i did!.
he also mentioned when everyone used the bible he could hear the pages flipping and he knew they were following along.
this was really funny to me.

Last time I attended I could hear the sound of doctrine flipping.
That's a good point, we used to be guilted into sitting up straight looking at the speaker, taking the goldilocks amount of notes etc etc how can they tell now if you're paying attention.

WT's dress code isn't about dressing "appropriately" it's about every other petty rule of theirs it's about power and control. They enjoy getting people to jump through hoops just because they can.
There are certainly enough examples in the bible where Jesus broke the social rules of the day to heal, speak or hangout with someone on the do not heal, speak or hangout with list that indicate that Jesus didn't give a rat's ass about what a person looked like.
