Yes, religion "socially controls" by way of rules and punishments and reinforces those rules with manipulative words and imagery.

If you want to prove the point to someone just ask them to accompany you as you take some outside research on any subject that JWs believe to any JW and ask them about it. Better yet take outside research to the hall and watch what happens when you try to use it in a comment.
Wt are smart enough to to never say "never do this" or "don't ever do that" so newer literature will be ambiguous and general, making it difficult to prove outright.

Subliminal images - why and who are the individuals behind it?
by UnshackleTheChains ini remember about 5 years ago reading on another site about subliminal images in wt literature.
i honestly thought it a load of bs until i checked out one glaringly obvious image of a creepy skull in clouds within the knowledge book.
i was shocked and even showed my wife at the time who thought it was creepy.. so my question is why?

WT are not smart enough to employ manipulative psychological tactics in their literature via overt and covert images and text ???
Hmmm, let's see now.
7mil+ multi generational membership.
Multibillion dollar publishing house/real estate business/pseudo charity/"christian" religion and assorted side businesses.
All this ^^^ in spite of
over a century of numerous failed prohecies
rules so harsh that people at best waste their lives at worst die or let their child die, or go to jail for this religion
WT like any successful business that has longevity IS that smart.

How many JWs would offer their young daughters as a bride to a single GB member
by Chook ini think the bragging rights of parents would rule.
i've seen cos marry girls no older than there own children when their spouse has died..

Let's face it there is not much choice in the admonition to "only marry in the Lord."
That combined with the fact that the only way for a woman to survive with any respectability in the borg is to marry an appointed man. If women were able to "reach out" and form a career as a JW as an MS, elder etc then there would be a lot more single brothers.

by Gorbatchov inhere in holland jw.org is organizing for the first time the yearly conventions like circuits.
the whole summer the new convention hall is used for small group conventions instead of 10.000 seat external halls.. it keeps the money in the organization.
not renting external buildings.. the 29.000 witnesses here are divided now into 2.000 seat audience.. g..

Jehovah's Witnesses on BBC World Service radio
by jw news 2017 in© copyright bbc world service © copyright bbc heart and soul **" witness protectionheart and souljehovah’s witnesses follow a strict interpretation of the bible.
it is supposed to shape every facet of the lives of its 8 million followers around the world.its beliefs set it apart not only from non-believers and other christian faiths.but what has emerged in recent years is an alleged catalogue of sexual abuse that has gone unreported and unpunished due to this adherence to the literal word of god.david cook meets the survivors of years of abuse who say their claims were ignored because of the lack of two witnesses to the crime, a major law of the organisation which it says is enshrined in the bible.jehovah’s witnesses deny they shelter any abusers but he will hear how some alleged abusers were allowed to remain part of the organisation because of the lack of witnesses.he will also investigate how this insular worldwide community is responding to mounting pressure to turn over decades of testimonies which could expose thousands more cases of abuse... Fantastic info CC! Useful to clarify the definitions between secondary, hidden and subliminal.
Why would they do this?
Advertisers know the powerful psychology behind the use of imagery. Every colour, number, actor, prop, etc that are used in adverts are chosen for a reason by the advertising company.
I figure with WT has a similar purpose, this is especially notable in the videos they produce - propoganda in word and image, even the choice of the actors! If you look carefully in the back ground of scenes all sorts of things show up that don't seem to have any rhyme or reason to the placement but just like movies and commercials nothing is left to chance in productions. It would be naive to believe otherwise.
WT has always peddled cult propoganda shamelessly and purposefully because they know with enough exposure the message really does get in to your brain.
