  Watchtower's unscriptual boasting about works

  nothing big here, just a little musing on this scripture at ephesians 2.8-9 that definately states that only faith saves, not works, in case men start to boast about their amazing works.

  "8for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of god, 9not of works, that no one would boast.

  well my word, i would definately say witnesses *do nothing but boast*, especially now on jw broadcast.

  If they removed all the boasting and self congratulations in all its forms from the literature and talks how much content would there be.

  Kids ... and baptism.

  i have noticed, from reading posts on this and other related websites, what to me is an alarming practice taking place within the jw's.

  and that is the baptism of kids.. on a recent discussion posted by pe ( video of the girl now forced to shun her sister) this child was baptised at 9 years old.

  all of us who were baptised at a much older age know of the many questions one needs to give serious consideration and understanding of to become eligible for baptism, not to mention the two baptism questions asked before being dunked.. surely the organisation must know that children of such a young age are not mature enough to fully grasp the seriousness, demands and consequences of making such a decision.. another point; if jesus is the example to follow, then why did he only get baptised at age 30, and he was perfect!.

  There is no way a child would understand the full ramifications of their decision to be baptised. Hell most adult JWs don't fully grasp the concepts of what it actually means to be a baptised dub.

  I have witnessed four bible studies (not mine) get love bombed and fast tracked through to baptism only to be DFed or DA within a year or so of their baptism, that's how well they "understood" this religion they were saying yes to.

  every picture i have seen at him at beth shirim and other private places are with a bottle of alcohol.. while for me personally i couldn't care less anymore.... for jw's this is low moral character.

  so i'm an going to guess he was a functioning alcoholic... how did that work with his closest workers?

  The more WT bangs on about stuff it knows nothing about, in this case tolerance, the more pressure it puts on individual JWs to toe the line with regards to adopting intolerant attitudes towards non-jw people.

  The more intolerant individual JWs become towards those on the other side of the cult compound the more psychological discomfort it will produce as their individual conscience struggles to reconcile the JW attitudes in their everday life.

  Because, let's face it, trying to incorporate your JWness into everyday life is like trying to jam a square peg into round hole - regardless of their fairytaly ending videos, it just doesn't work. The more individual JWs that feel this uncomfortable mismatch of intolerant ideology with workmates and classmates the more JWs might actually start to wake up.

  Or, maybe I 'm just a crazy optimist.
