Witnesses vying for "who has the biggest trials to cope with"

it struck me that witnesses have mastered the art of revelling in "trials and problems" that require "enduring".

of course, the persecution complex, and the paranoia about these "wicked last days" no doubt contributes to this.. if one witness has some health issue, or if another has a family drama, they seem to revel in sharing these stories amongst their witness friends...almost in an attempt to elicit sympathy.. has anyone else noticed this?.

most normal people though outside of the org, simply recognise that life has its ups and downs, and need to be dealt with..

I figure it's because the GB rewards self-made martyrs by using their example in yearbooks, awake articles, convention "experiences" etc.

The only attention to be had is being a really really "blessed" career witness or by being really really "persecuted" and "tested" and living to tell the tale.

And, if you can't be really really actually persecuted you just make up some storm in a teacup bs story about how your scarewy disfellowshipped relative tried to speak to you but you mangaed to stay strong and shun the shit out of that bitch. Then you get interviewd at the assembly and you win the award that year for most persecuted.

Would not surprise me at all, we should not be naive about these things. WT is not the immaculate org it makes out to be. Think about it naysayers. The likelyhood of sexual predators being present in closed religious orders is high across the board why would WT be any different?

WT and its people are not immune to the statistics that are common in society in general, that's just another lie perpetuated by WT.

since leaving the jws i have become fascinated by the lds church, because of the similarities both organisations have.

in reading x-mo forums i get the impression that they tend to be not as bitter and as twisted as xjw.

this is surprising as i think the lds is a bigger con than the jws.

I think WT and ChuckyT and JudgeR are more of a con because WT has always sanitized and whitewashed their characters and their history. So much so that they will spread deliberately confusing, misleading propoganda about the two complete with legendary anecdotes to members and to others. It's not beneath WT to feed "wordly" historians or jounalists the same whitewashed "official" versions of the "truth" to give their fabricated past credibility.

Ex LDS at least know, probably not all but much of the the dirt on the of their history and founders. JWs do not. They only ever have the WT "official" versions of events.

WT has a very effective disinformation program, I'll give them that!

WT's versions of how, who, where, and what are scant, sketchy and confusing - for a reason!

With so much of WT's history smelling like bullshit it's hard not to be angry!

When JWs Pray for Houston

when i hear prayers given by brothers why do they only pray for other jws not all people??

i remember hearing a comment from my mother saying 4000 jws are affected by this...and i'm thinking yes that is sad but what about the tens of thousands other people affected?

too me it just doesn't seem right to just pray for jws but to pray for all victims.

Why pray for people who don't exist in Jehovah's eyes because they "do not know him."

To be worthy of mention in a JW prayer you need to at least be interested in becoming a jw, on the road to baptism or an active and regular (meeting attender not bowel movements) baptized JW.
