my boyfriend, who is a disfellowshipped jehova's witness, asks me to study the bible for 3 months or he won't marry me (i'm a muslim woman).
he loves me and really wants to marry me but he is doing a passive blackmailing: if i don't study for 3 months, 1 time per week, in my home country, and without him, there will be no marriage... as a muslim, i believe the bible is god's word so i look at the bible from time to time and would be happy to study with him.
but the fact that he is kind of saying "study the bible or bye bye no marriage" is really hurtful.
If he's blackmailing you about this now what will he blackmail you about once married.
He's hoping if he can get you to study for 3 months you will convert - huh, who'da thought it, one high control religious group trying to convert someone from another high control group.
Anyway, call this a taste of things to come.
Tell him to he should not even have a girlfriend if wants to be reinstated back into his religion.

a pet peeve of mine is that there are numerous christian denominations (other faiths with their 'holy' books too), all claim that their interpretation of their 'holy' book is the correct interpretation.
my conclusion is that either their god is a very poor communicator or simply doesn't exist.. i used to believe all this stuff when i was a jobo and later a church going christian.
i simply cannot, in all honesty subscribe to it all any more.
Maybe none of it is supposed to make sense. What will people in two thousand years think of the classic books of today? Will they try to analyze interpret and live by them.

Thing is someone could be considered "stable" with no history of mental illness at the time of purchase and then become "unstable" at a later time. Mental illness isn't that black and white, as in, you either are or you are not mentally ill and if you are not you never will be and vice versa. Everyone has periods of sadness anxiety and high stress even gun owners but not everyone will snap under those circumstaces when "the silicone chip inside her head gets switched to overload".
i have an uneasy feeling inside that something is coming this year or the next.

All religion is a scam ditch it, you don't need religion to explore the metaphysical or ponder the musings of the great philosphers and thinkers or discover the history of the world, in fact you could learn more from the Mel Brookes History of the World movies than you could from any religion and it would be funnier.
Big Religion is just an opportunistic businessman that sets himself up as the middle man, a bottled water seller set up next to the stream taking advantage of thirsty people. The bible is just one tiny fragment in a world of mystery.

the other day my wife and i were in sonoma.
we were just walking around enjoying the pleasant afternoon in the quaint, old downtown area when i saw two jw women standing by their “witnessing cart.” .
normally, i just ignore them whenever i see jws standing by a cart, but i gotta admit it: this time it really bugged me because of the title on the cart: find family happiness.
You just fell for their baity hook sign that's all. When I think back to all the titles of the books mags and brochures they're all misleading intellectual honey trap to lure in all sorts of people. I saw a recent cart asking something about the bible and trusting it or something along those lines and I thought an athiest could mistakenly assume they were anti-bible from the way the question was worded. So deceptive so JWborg!
