advice please/data protection

i have just received an email from an elder's wife regarding the new data protection laws.

between the lines it sounds like she has been asked to contact me.. she says they 'don't want to leave me out' so they want me to fill out the form as 'i'm still part of the congregation'.

also, my blood card needs updating, apparently.. the elder in charge will be in contact.. obviously, i'm not doing either, but what do i do?

Just ignore they may never get back to you about it and that will prove they weren't genuinely concerned just crossing names off a list.

me too, i had to have a study with a jw.

then, a month or two later, another one of my ‘worldly’ mates (dan) asked me “are you going out with emma?” i told him no.

dan had also asked rob himself and rob had said that he wasn’t involved with emma.

when i saw simons thread and the "interview" series of threads that came from it i really enjoyed reading the life stories of those that shared.

a bump for newer people seems like a good idea and i figured i would add mine as well.

again, thanks to simon for the concept of a guided interview thread and the template.. tell us a little about yourself and your family.. hmmm... easy question, hard answer.

Withdrawing community support in the congs

i've noticed in the past 10 years that the social support that used to be available in the congs, a shoulder to cry on, elders to help with family/marriage issues these seem to have been purposely withdrawn.

counsel is even heard from the platform that the elders are not there to help people with their problems.. so first in the 80s-90s they take away the congregation get to getters and social events and now they seem to be going one step further in taking away the emotional support for people too.. this will take away an aspect that i'm sure was keeping alot of people in the borg, the community support.

if that's not there and its just about meetings and ministry how many will start to get their emotional support elsewhere?.

Nrs83 - agree with ttdtt here, the last thing your child needs is for some JW to show interest in them out of pity. Protect him from them.

Did anyone notice putting "sackcloth" on the baby? Looked like a real baby crying to me and I thought isn't there special protocols to be followed on movie sets when working with children and animals? Just a thought anyway.

Today’s meeting and CO visit

the meeting today was quite disturbing as usual and had to endure 2 talks by yet another egotistical, pompous co who gives talks like a hardcore southern baptist, but people adore no matter what crazy shit spews from their mouth.

today, he talked about jesus illustration about how if your eye or hand stumbles you, remove it.

he went into gory detail about how somebodies eye ball is pulled out from their head, and what it takes to cut someone’s hand off...perhaps even with a pocketknife...in front of many small children in the audience.

This guy sounds like a psycho.

All religion cherry-picks, it has to because it's about as impossible to live by ancient texts in their entirety as it would be to live by Shakespeare, the best they can do is pick out whatever suits them.

Jws are neither "good" nor "nice" they're indoctrinated. Everything they do is for their own salvation from the wrath of a hungry beast org/god. They're loyal to an org not love or people and they will do anything including lying to the face of a householder or bible study or court or Dr or policeman about their own beliefs, letting their familiy members die, and totally throwing under a bus anyone who they decide is not submissive and subservient enough to their org. It's their way or the highway to armageddon for anyone who doesn't agree with them.

Maybe they are trying to scare baptism candidates into not leading a double life but it provides an escape clause to faders. But we know WT and the local elders are the gatekeepers and they can and do ignore what is written in their own publications. They are the ones that will decide if your baptism is valid or not. So not an out really.
