The Label Of "Apostate" And It's Effects
by pale.emperor inin my psychology studies we've been examining the use of "labels" and how they influence peoples behaviour.
i sometimes wonder if the gb or their helpers know exactly what they're doing when it comes to psychological manipulation.. it's been observed that by labeling someone or something it changes your entire perception of that person or thing.
it colours it entirely, quite unfairly in some cases.

When I first left the apostate label carried with it a feeling of shame now I could not care less about it, it's a meaningless term used by WT to demonize whistleblowers. The term no longer has any power over me because I know what it is designed to do and refuse to fall for it.

Do Witnesses Experience Racial Discrimination To Your Knowledge?
by minimus inmy experience in the kingdom hall was that racial discrimination and profiling was not typically practiced....that i know of.
i was in a diverse city with every type of skin color and nationality imaginable.. i’m wondering if the witnesses have changed due to the current affairs exposed by the media everyday.
are there discrimination issues in jw land??

Already been touched on but discrimination based on class and position is rife in the borg.
The last cong I attended displayed a very strange form of "discrimination" if that's what you can call it.
In a totally rural white on white area a black family moved in and they were treated like celebrity curiosities in this very condescending cringey way by the normally reserved to the point of cold locals. It was truly fascinating to watch. The children were oh so cute and dare I say it "like dolls" the family were "oh so lovely" and their hands were never missed come comment time.The brother was used instantly and often the sister was the new go-to for demos and everyone wanted to be their best friend. Now keep in mind this was an extremely stand-off-ish cong xenophobic to the extreme if someone turned up from outside the area, never really becoming part of the congregation, so the display that was put on for the new black family was very weird and very creepy.

New brochure about donations.
by Ray Frankz inin this midweek meeting the local needs was a booooring speech about the new brochure on donations.
the wt must think the jws are dying to know how to give their money.. well, it's not new this is disgusting but this time, after i ve been slightly hinting people here and there for a year about the 'abnormal request of money' and remind them that 'the faithful slave wasn't like that until some time ago', this time i saw their faces.
they did get bothered with that talk.

New brochure about donations.

They would just need to create a members section of the website and charge for subscription. JWs love their special info it what makes them special, I could see them going for that.

Pre 2000 magazines now on JW Org- have there been alterations to the originals?
by joey jojo injust wanted to ask if anyone has found any glaring changes to the pre- 2000 wt or awake articles that have been put online compared to the original issues?.

Absolutely, it's a very Orwellian religion. Cedars has pointed out several instances now of ommissions and alterations some of his vids. Couldn't tell what they were and what vids though sorry.

Things you didn't expect to like...
by sparrowdown instuff you never expected you would do or enjoy doing as a non-witness.... researching - always thought i hated study and reading turns out it was just wt literature i hated studying and reading.
having political opinions and just having opinons and beliefs that are not set in stone and that i am free to assess, review and adjust as i become more aware of imformation .
droping the f-bomb every now and again to make a point feels surprisingly good but that may just be post-religious rebellion that wears off... eventually.

Jwundubbed and Dubstepped - yes, I'm amazed at how talking to people is not half as tedious or scary as it used to be when I felt obligated to push past my anxiety and talk to anyone and everyone about the troof. I used to see people in the supermarket and know who they were, where they lived and what they believed all from meeting them in FS - very awkward and cringey.
TD and Vidiot - I too have been exploring all sorts of genres of music I never thought I would like so no judgement here it's good to broaden our horizons. TD your wife sounds like me, catching up with tv series WT would never have approved of. When I first started waking up I started binge watching American Horror Story and absolutely felt like a naughty kid in the middle of the night scared but loving every minute of it!

76 Year Old JW Woman Attacked by Pit Bull While Out in Service ... "Lost a large amount of blood"
by Wild_Thing in4 people were hurt by the dog ... 2 were jws.
the older woman was severely hurt.
i hope the old woman survives.

Unfortunately irresponsible idiot dog owners are everywhere. The last congregation I attended I was with a fs group on three seperate occasions of incidences where elderly JWs were bitten by a dog. Two sisters and one couple where both husband and wife were injured. D2D work for any reason carries the risk of dog attack. So does just walking down the street or going to a park if dogs are not under control.
