  I sometimes wonder if cults like JWs decide consciously to recruit and retain at least a couple of high profile celebs to help sell the brand. I get the feeling the ones we know of are JW in name only and as long as they say "praise Jehovah"every so often and turn up at the odd convention or AGM they are still fulfilling their contract.

  A Question About Elders Knowing About Child Molesters

  supposedly the society sent a letter out on march 14, 1997 to all elders contained an instruction that inadvertently admitted they had a big problem: “the body of elders should give the society a report on anyone serving or who formerly served in a society-appointed position in your congregation who is known to have been guilty of child molestation in the past.” .

  can anyone here confirm/or not that this was a real letter that was sent to elders?.

  KH Hall doors to remain locked during meetings?

  my mother in law told us this morning that they read a letter in her cong last night.

  from now on kh doors will be locked after 15 min of meeting start.

  only the fire exit (one way door) will remain unlocked.

  The cong I attendded started locking the doors during meetings bout 8-10 yrs ago.

  You had to buzz to get in or out if you wanted to leave early or arrived late.

  * Note: I live in a very low crime area.

  Come KH working bee day Elders be like: now brother you get out there and paint that freakishly tall wall with this two inch brush then you can vacuum the carpet with the dustbuster and you sisters start scrubbing that bathroom floor with this toothbrush, any complaints and the tools will get smaller! just because I said so.

  Just saw the film, "Apostasy"

  it was a very good film but not fully what i was expecting.

  a jw could even watch it, i don't think the title fit the movie.

  there was absolutely nothing about apostasy, nor do i recall the word even being mentioned.

  Yes I'm sure the cringe factor that exjws feel on watching it is only felt because we have been there, done/said that, I see it as over-identifying with the characters and story.

  The normies that watch it may find some scenes awkward but would just think "what weirdos" JWs are.

  i don't know if they do this any longer but back in the day they had a special section at an assembly sectioned off for dfed people who would have to wear a ribbon that said disfellowshipped.

  do they still do this and what was the rules on dfed talking to dfed at the assembly?

  Never ever seen or heard of the ribbon thing.

  I always thought that D-effed people could be identified by a big D on their forhead just like in the show Red Dwarf the hologram was identified by a big H on his fro.

  Maybe we should send Sacha Baron Cohen to interview one of the GB about various forms of identification for the D-effed we might get some interesting candid answers. Lol.
