My mother in law told us this morning that they read a letter in her cong last night. From now on KH doors will be locked after 15 min of meeting start. Only the fire exit (one way door) will remain unlocked.

Anyone else heard this? May be it is regional? Lately there has been a couple of protest at this KH and outside the Assembly Hall in La Feria, TX. The consensus in the cong is that this is a result of those protests

There was a recent letter to elders on this - doors are supposed to be locked for "smaller" meetings (field service, elders meetings, etc.). For regular meetings, the BOE is supposed to decide whether to lock the doors or not.

The letter seems to imply that always locking the doors is preferred, so probably a lot of congregations have started locking the doors all the time.

The governing body seem to be upping the paranoia levels of its victims (followers). They'll be scared of their own shadows if the gb keep all this up with the Armageddon bunker videos and locking doors, etc

I went to the 'Memorial' this year and noticed an Elder guarding the door. I asked what that was all about and was told that it is now policy to LOCK ALL DOORS after the meetings have started and to post an Elder inside at the main entrance to allow in stragglers that he recognizes by sight. If you are not known to the Elder you are not let in to the building. I'm glad you posted this StarTrekAngel as I wondered what this was all about.

My last cong always did this... but then it was in a shit hole area.

There's a working mens club next door, the patrons sit outside and discard of their empty beer bottles by throwing them over the railings. Doing car park security always involves talking to the drunks outside.

Oh dear thor.....no. This is not because of some local protest. Its not about paranoia. Its not because the org is collapsing. Its not to increase donations. In big cities its ALWAYS, for many decades, been local policy to lock the doors.

This letter was released in the usa at least a year ago. It was in response to a church shooting and the realization that khs were vunerable like anywhere else (cause their desert god cant stop a shooter).

Everything dosent have a sinister motive. The gb aren't evil geniuses. They are reactionary at best and this is simple and easy to understand. Get a grip.

Door to remain locked for 15mins after meeting starts hey?

Well?? What about those poor souls who are forced to travel at least 30miles each way to the meetings?? Let's just suppose they encounter bad driving holding them back with back-up travel. What are they going to do if they are 20 mins late because of snow-packed roads? Turn them back maybe.

It’s just for safety issues in areas of high crime. When they start locking the doors in the suburbs, then you will know the heat is on.

Someday there may be an announcement to get to your local kingdom hall at such and such time. If you’re not there on time and they lock the doors, then you’re dead meat just like in the days of Noah.

In the case of the members of Speke, Liverpool congregation I think they'd be safer at home. The locals would rob the teeth from your head if you gave them the chance.
