How Long Before They Introduce Tithing?
by pale.emperor inwhen i was a full-on believing jw i had an obsessive fascination with mormonism.
i read, studied and watched their propaganda with strange interest as well as their apostate mormon books.
i have to say, they have a good scam going claiming that "the lord reintroduced tithing" in the modern age.

Bethelites Vow Of Poverty
by pale.emperor informer governing body assistant howie tran has shared his bethel vow of poverty contract.
it reads rather culty.
i think clause number 9 is particularly worrying...to adhere to, not the bible alone, but also the watchtower literature and the governing body.

Control a person's perception of reality and you control them.

I do not use the words indoctrination and forced interchangeably - ever. I am NOT one of those people.
JWs are heavily infuenced by their years of indoctrination and their decisions reflect that.
If indoctrination in JW beliefs is not present in a person's life does that person just wake up one day and think I would love to make bethel a career? Do non JWs apply to go to bethel? No they do not.
BUT, that does not mean in any way shape or form that someone forced them to apply to go to bethel.
Bethelites are not forced to apply for bethel I do not know how many ways I can say it.

I'm not saying JWs do not have a choice they do they just choose not to use it because they fail to question their indoctrination.
I have never ever said adult JWs are forced to join because they are not. Any person that turns 18 yrs of age is legally and intellectually responsible for their own decisions. JW children are conditioned to believe they are not. They are lied to by parents who were lied to but that does NOT absolve them of their responsibility or consequences of decisions they make as an adult.

Indoctrination is not another word for forced they are completely different words with different meanings.
Being indoctrinated to believe certain things can move someone to "volunteer" for anything.

The reason otherwise intelligent people willingly volunteer to sign their personal freedoms away to go live in a cult compound is because they have been indoctrinated to believe it's the right thing to do.
Not everyone that applies to bethel gets accepted it's held out as a "privilege" there are only so many ways you can "serve" or advance your theocratic career and going to bethel is one of them gilead is another the bar being set pretty high for both.
Nothing wrong with a bit of healthy ambition cults take advantage of it actually, they just call it "reaching out."

I'd venture a guess and say it's similar in phrasing to a standard terms of agreement used for anyone applying to join any kind of religious order. In this case the big happy bethel "family." ("The Family" said in Godfather voice.)
Just one of the JW voluntary actions that seems like a good idea at the time.

What would you do or say?
by Butyoucanneverleave ina brother who is not baptized ( so there's still hope for him ) had a sister recently run into him at a store.
show wanted to know if he's going to the kingdom hall.
she asked him to write a letter for her to give to his mother ( who's deceased) in the paradise explaining why he didn't make it.

I myself had the misfortune of a JW woman spotting me in the supermarket yesterday and deciding me being hemmed in by a shopping trolley and otherwise occupied by placing sweet potatoes in a bag was a good time to preach at me by listing all the reasons why the end is even nigher now ....... meanwhile 😴😴😴

What Privileges do you get when you are baptized ?
by LOLS inmy husband was baptized at the recent 2018 convention in south africa ....... he was very annoyed that his non-believing wife did not attend the baptism....... but i think he received pressure from his jw father & elders as to why his wife was not attending ....... anyway ..... it's really water off my back .
i wanted to know what privileges you get as a baptized jw man , as i saw a message from one of the elders at his cong , congratulating him on his baptism and to earning more privileges ..... what are these privileges the elder is speaking about ,,,,, .
i don't feel like asking my husband as it just lands up in a stupid fight ..... or a long winded explanation ..... thanks .

My only advice would be
Stand your ground.
Don't let him bully or emotionally blackmail you into doing anything up you don't want to or stop you doing things you enjoy doing.
Remember this is his cult, his obligation not yours.
He will try to guilt you into joining him in his delusion, so be prepared.

Never a good idea to have sex with anyone too drunk to remember, even if they make the first move, so, just consider it a bullet dodged and move on.
