Any abusive spouse knows all it takes to keep someone from walking is to make noise about change. Most abusers don't ever actually change they just talk about it. It creates false hope that things will get better, so even if the changes you hope for fail to happen, just the talk of change keeps you hanging on. They (WT) would have to know this on some level, it's pretty basic human nature. I suspect the borg is'nt just bleeding money it's bleeding members aswell. They know that there is nothing that gets JW juices flowing faster than gossip about change. How could this not be just moves and counter moves on their part to keep the masses in placated.

There are several ways worldly companies could do this, for instance they could.
1. Invest in major rebranding campaign, for eg KFC (nobody likes the word fried anymore).
2. Keep the product virtually the same, just slap "new and improved" labels on all the packaging.
3 Keep the product the same just change packaging with "same great taste" labels.
4. Stop bleeding money. Cut overheads to the bone.
Or all of the above. All in an attempt to save money, revitalise image or in other words remain commercially viable.
Any changes we see coming from WT headquarters at the moment is possibly part of a rebranding excersize.
Same crappy product with some new "spin".
How stupid do they think we are?

by punkofnice inok. i don't believe that the watchtower(r) armageddon(tm) is anything but fantasy.. i do recall speculation about how the 'anointed(tm)' might all be dead before the big 'a' or that some will survive through it and help the r&f.
i heard brothers speculating that after the big 'a' the 'anointed(tm)' would be spirited away to heaven.. i wonder what they think will happen to the gb on, before or after the big 'a' now?.

I am sooo with you on this ecan6, the new songs debarcle was like a sucker punch to my faith. I too had favourites that held special meaning for me and then they just up and changed them like it was nothing. The new songs are godawful, no discernable melody. I am sure you could use them to torture prisoners, anyone would confess to anything after being subjected to that.

UNITY vs CONFORMITY - discuss.
by disposable hero of hypocrisy ini've read the walsh trial that indicates the societies stance of ' unity at all costs, even if we're wrong ' but that sounds more like conformity to me.
so how do other religions or movements justify the range of beliefs within their respective movements?
for example, the born again movement, a massive range of beliefs, but they don't insist on conformity.

I truly believe it is theoretically possible to have differing beliefs and yet still be unified in a worthwhile common goal. Its called respect for anothers right to an opinion while not necessarily agreeing with their opinion. For instance we don't all have to believe in a God to help save the planet.

I know an elderly couple that got mauled by a dog out in service. They had to go to hospital for stitches and shock. It was very sad. There was no sign on the gate, the dogowner was in the yard and did nothing to stop it. The old bro and sis felt they should report the dog to local council( in our area by law there should be safe access to your front door, and if you have a dog that bites you should have a warning sign clearly visible). Anyway they asked the local elders and were told that they should not report this incident as it could reflect badly on the cong and make it harder for everyone else to go d2d. The old couple thought this was an incredibly iresponsible attitude to have and were sure this dog would almost certainly bite someone else, and maybe a child selling cookies next time. They became very discouraged and realised the only protection from this sort of thing was to NOT go door to door . Hard way to learn.

Troubling experience at 1 day assembly re: little jw child
by williamhconley injust had my 1day assembly this weekend.
an experience given by the bethel speaker was quite troubling and shows how jw's live in constant paranoia, anxiety and they isolate themselves from normal living.. a first grade class was having a fire drill.
everyone ( except one) lined up and stood outside away fron the classroom in the grass.
