They're certainly predictable and narrow in their world view don't know about boring though, usually I can switch off and relax around boring people but I find I have to keep my wits about me when around a JW, their indoctrination and passive aggressive barbs can set you back if your not alert to it and I think too much exposure to JWs can be hazardous to your mental health, emotional well being and tends to dumb you down to their level.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses Mind Numbingly Boring To You?
by minimus ini honestly think they are the most boring people on earth!
even when they produce their so called "new light", there's no excitement.
jws just do their thing and refuse to think about their useless lives.

Just because something is old, does not mean it is "Special" or "Sacred" or "Valuable"
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred to me that simply because something is old does not make it valuable or worthy of sacred reverence.. the bible is held up as sacred just because it is "old" and apparently preserved.. but, that does not make sense.
if in thousands of years someone finds a notebook of my scribbles or sketches that i threw away, that doesn't elevate them to "valuable status" simply because they survived.
they were thrown away because they were worthless.. or if an archaeologist finds an ancient broken bit of pottery that was used for garbage disposal, it doesn't change its status from what it once was - a garbage bin.. i guess what i am trying to ask is, why is it that we as humans give value to writings just because they are old?.

Elder told me that they are required to report to police.
by CitizenofEarth inyesterday i had my weekly "mandatory" study with an elder, and i brought up child abuse and the whole issue with reporting it to the police.
he told me that they are required to report to the police immediately, and that they never deter people from reporting anything.
may i remind you that i am from denmark.. i find this interesting, as everything i find elsewhere states quite the opposite, or atleast provides statements that does not agree with his statements.

My understanding is that even where required by law to report the elders must contact branch first.

I encountered JWs in street a couple of weeks ago.
by Chook ini was at my brother in laws house and seen them on opposite of road so i went and sat on brick fence ahead of their route, as they walked pasted they asked is this your house to which i responded no.
i asked what are you selling, then they showed me a tract.
my first question was to this middle aged couple was " what is the youngest age someone in your church gets baptised?

Southern California USA Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses On High Alert
by JW GoneBad incircuit overseers, elders, ministerial servants, pioneers and rank & file are stressed out over an ex-jw (kevin) who has visited nearly 20 congregations (orange county) and has high-jacked the opening prayers and done some effective witnessing before he is escorted to the back door.
and everything is caught on video!.
kevin is also visiting numerous jw cart locations from the los angeles area to orange county and giving a most effective wiitness at each location and they're all on video.

To me this is an example of what a witness would classify as "high alert" paranoids like JWs deem anyone that has a differing opinion and voices it is a "dangerous" individual so to them this is truly "high alert" situation rather than just an annoying situation. JWs are not known for their perspective or objectivity. This is just sillines.

Lies straight off the bat I wasn't aware of any age restrictions to baptism.
No, a JW or a child of a JW cannot go and examin other religions willy-nilly without repercussions.

Please tell me: what is a relationship with the "person" Jehovah like?
by Maryo indoes anyone out there know of any jws that have talked about what their personal relationship with jehovah was like?
for example, hearing his voice, a certain feeling?
an intellectual understanding?

Did you ever have a discussion with an apostate that helped your journey out.
by jwfacts inthere seems to be a number of different ways that apostates try to get jehovah's witnesses realise they do not have the truth, ranging from subtle comments to aggressive attacks.
do you have any that looking back helped you finally leave.
some of the methods include:.

Oh and as far as so-called "aggressive" activists they made me curious I wondered what they so upset about.
I always asked myself why? Why were they protesting "God's people" and I was not one to be satisfied with the standard JW vending machine answers like "they have turned their back on Jehovah" or "they must have done the wrong thing and now they're angry that they're disfellowshipped" those excuses didn't add up because I knew personally ones that had tried hard to stay faithful and wanted it to be the truth and make it work, so them just "being bad" didn't make sense.

Yes. I met an apostate in the D2D work she told me she was a witness and she no longer believed JWs "had the truth." Intrigued and feeling I needed to show compassion to this "arrogant" woman (lol) I listened to her. I asked her if she worried about armageddon and she said if some kind of armageddon came she would take her chances but refused to keep her life on hold for a religion and that I would do well to do the same.
She said many other things and they stayed with me.
Looking back I was already waking up at this point but I always felt great sympathy for apostates and ones that drifted away seeing for myself the great pain many were in when they left made me wonder why. I felt in my heart it was the religion and it's smallminded bigotry and harsh unattainable standards that broke many a spirit and caused them to leave in cruel circumstances.
I think it was my own eyes, ears and conscience that woke me up but an old arsehole CO amd his first lady powerbitch wife helped seal the deal in the end, but I am grateful to that apostate lady for speaking her mind to me so courageously.
So thankyou apostates, drifters, faders and "weak ones" who turned out to be the strong ones your struggle did not go unnoticed and it helped alot.
