Is the End right around the corner or what???
by Lynnie ininteresting observations i've noticed when visiting my uber elder cousin and his wife.
he just inherited a lovely home on the water on puget sound from his non jw dad who passed away earlier this year.
so they have spent many $$$ and months remodeling this house to their standards which are quite expensive tastes.

If the GB members over the years all had children, would the DF / Shunning policy be softer?
by stuckinarut2 injust a question i was pondering:.
most of the gb over the years, from the time of rutherford right through to today, have not had children i think?
(correct me please if i am wrong).

I wouldn't have thought most were childless but I don't know the numbers so sorry, can't comment on that.
What I will say is no I don't think it would have made a difference to DFing policy because WT is a cult/business masqerading as a religion, compassion doesn't come into it with them, only power and control.

New Research at AJWRB
by Lee Elder inthe latest research article published at ajwrb estimates the number of jehovah's witnesses who have died from following or being coerced to follow watchtower's blood policy.
the numbers are staggering.

"JWfacts errs on the side of sensationalism rather than caution..." Ruby456.
Sorry gonna call unfair on that one. I find JWfacts annoyingly factual and cautious at all times.
In fact, he would have to be one of the most polite, patient, fact based, gentlemen posters on here.

Because being a JW is like living in a sado-masochist's paradise, minus the leather.

The WatchTower conductor lied on stage
by Isambard Crater inon sunday morning in the watchtower study, a "study" who was their for the 1st time put his hand up and said; "i have a question.
when the paragraph says give up everything, it doesn't really mean give up everything like the pearl merchant, does it, like be willing to lose my modest house, cheap car and other basics i own?
i mean, that sounds a bit much".. the watchtower conductor said in response; "no, it's just a parable and it doesn't mean give up everything.

Literally everything? Really? Think about it. How many JWs have you known that have actually given up everything, their homes, their car, their belongings, their job, and left their spouse?
Bethelites and missionaries possibly? Which is a very tiny percentage of the number of overall JWs.
I have known converts that given up a hell of a lot but not literally everything.
This is guilt inducing WT rhetoric to make conscientious people think they haven't given up enough and thus keep them perpetually guilty.
AS I SAID on the previous page it's talking about giving up everything that prevents you from being a fully functioning cult member.
Last time I checked you needed a car, a tablet, a suit, somewhere to live and at least a minimum wage job for that because WT is NOT a charity.

Not necessarily a lie, when WT says in effect "give up everything" for (I'm assuming) the "pearl of high value" it basically means give up everything that is incompatible with being a JW. Or IOW anything that might limit your ability to be a fully functioning recruiting agent for WT.

How many times can you be DF'd?
by Fader812 inthere was one guy in our hall who got df'd 3 times, on the fourth time he never came back.
i wonder if they told him not to come back?

Ugh, just the thought it. People that find themselves DFed and then go through the demeaning reinstatement process more than once could be considered gluttons for punishment I spose.
The old saying about doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results being the definition of insanity springs to mind as well.

Will religion ever truly be accountable for the abuse it has inflicted on children ? Sexuall or otherwise ?
by smiddy inthe sad truth in todays society is that religion gets an out of jail card on so many levels and i cant think of how this situation is ever going to change in the foreseeable future.. my main fear is that the few investigations going on is just to appease those clamouring for justice .. and the forces in control are just seen to be doing the right thing whereas nothing concrete except for some small token judgements will ever be executed.. call me a cynic but i doubt the arc will bring about much change at the end of the day.. remember they dont have much authority to do anything except advise..

I doubt we will ever see anything resembling adequate justice for any of WT's crimes against children the family and liberty.
It seems to me now that if a person manages to escape WT intact, without having suffered physical or sexual abuse or any lasting profound mental illness from the barrage of psychological abuse one is exposed to during their childhood and life as a dub, then, that person is one of the lucky ones.
Having said that, I believe with every fibre of my being that exposing the true nature of this cult is NOT a waste of time. It's important that current JW children don't get baptized, they don't go on to marry a JW and pass on the cult to the next gen and the general public can see through their honey trap website and recruiting methods.

Why the vitriolic hate?
by stuckinarut2 ini am sure we have all thought of this before, but it struck me again today:.
why does the society promote such vitriolic hate toward, and about those who have left "the truth" ?.
surely it is obvious that such critical attitudes towards ones like us who have left, only serves to proove that they do not have "the truth"?.

Standard practise with cults is to demonize defectors. Anyone or anything outside the compound is bad and anyone who escapes the compound is worse - a traitor, a vile defector that has to be demonized in order to discourage others from questioning the leaders and the rules.
