Watchtower Coercion of Non-JWs

it is widely known that the watchtower coerces compliance with its deadly blood dogma.

a less known fact is that this pressure is further extended to non-believing family members of jw's.

a new story at ajwrb recounts how jw elders nearly cost the life of one unbeliever when he fell gravely anemic.

When I was in my JW friend's not a JW never been a JW or ever been interested in being a JW widowed mother broke her hip and my JW friend along with her JW husband insisted the Drs treat the non JW mother without blood. This pissed the Drs off to be sure, but, since the mother was in no condition to speak for herself it left the Drs in a difficult position with the next of kin relative insisting on no blood.

I told my friend she wasn't violating any witness rules by allowing her mother to have the surgery along with any necessary treatments but my friend was so repulsed by the idea of blood she said she couldn't allow it. The Drs just went around my friend and called the alternate in case of emergency numbers listed on the ladies file and this relative wasn't a JW and said hell yeah do whatever you need to - so they did while my friend wasn't at the hospital.

Incidentally the lady ended up dying a couple years later of something unrelated and the JW daughter insisted witness material and scriptures be read at her non JW memorial service with mostly non JW family and friends of the woman attending.

Just Offended A JW Cart Witness Without Even Trying

on my way into town from my office.

two carts set up a few feet from each other.

one manned by a man and woman (i assume they're a couple) in their late 30s.. the guys walks off to the other cart as im walking by, i wasn't going to approach but the woman holding the awake!

White supremacy is an ideology of peace

i'm tired of hearing these constant attacks on white supremacists after the events in charlottesville.

why are moderate white supremacists being lumped in together and sharing the blame for the actions of one reprehensible man that misinterpreted the ideals of white supremacy and became violent?

clearly the motivation of such attacks on white supremacists is nothing other than racism.

Isn't it ironic that in so-called western "democratic" countries everyone nowadays feels discriminated against in some way. So much so they feel the need to form their own "ist" group. And if the name they give themselves isn't quite controversial enough the media will dub them a catchy "ist" name so everyone knows who to hate.

Is is mandatory that everyone has to identify as an "ist" or a letter of the alphabet these days.

It seems if you don't state clearly what kind of "ist" you are you will be accused of being this type of "ist" for not idenifying yourself as that type of "ist."

interesting observations i've noticed when visiting my uber elder cousin and his wife.

he just inherited a lovely home on the water on puget sound from his non jw dad who passed away earlier this year.

so they have spent many $$$ and months remodeling this house to their standards which are quite expensive tastes.

If the GB members over the years all had children, would the DF / Shunning policy be softer?

most of the gb over the years, from the time of rutherford right through to today, have not had children i think?

(correct me please if i am wrong).

I wouldn't have thought most were childless but I don't know the numbers so sorry, can't comment on that.

What I will say is no I don't think it would have made a difference to DFing policy because WT is a cult/business masqerading as a religion, compassion doesn't come into it with them, only power and control.

in my stand up comedy routine tonight i want to list humourous reasons why i shd go back to jws.. how about nobody throws parties like jws.. how about jws being at the cutting edge of fashion.. how about it being easier for men to get a date.. any ideas?.

when the paragraph says give up everything, it doesn't really mean give up everything like the pearl merchant, does it, like be willing to lose my modest house, cheap car and other basics i own?

i mean, that sounds a bit much".. the watchtower conductor said in response; "no, it's just a parable and it doesn't mean give up everything.

Literally everything? Really? Think about it. How many JWs have you known that have actually given up everything, their homes, their car, their belongings, their job, and left their spouse?

Bethelites and missionaries possibly? Which is a very tiny percentage of the number of overall JWs.

I have known converts that given up a hell of a lot but not literally everything.

This is guilt inducing WT rhetoric to make conscientious people think they haven't given up enough and thus keep them perpetually guilty.

AS I SAID on the previous page it's talking about giving up everything that prevents you from being a fully functioning cult member.

Last time I checked you needed a car, a tablet, a suit, somewhere to live and at least a minimum wage job for that because WT is NOT a charity.

Not necessarily a lie, when WT says in effect "give up everything" for (I'm assuming) the "pearl of high value" it basically means give up everything that is incompatible with being a JW. Or IOW anything that might limit your ability to be a fully functioning recruiting agent for WT.

How many times can you be DF'd?

there was one guy in our hall who got df'd 3 times, on the fourth time he never came back.

Ugh, just the thought it. People that find themselves DFed and then go through the demeaning reinstatement process more than once could be considered gluttons for punishment I spose.

The old saying about doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results being the definition of insanity springs to mind as well.
