Has the Governing Body EVER apologized for anything?
by Wild_Thing ingeoffrey jackson testified to the arc that the governing body has apologized for things in the past, so an apology to sexual abuse victims is "perceivable".
what has the governing body ever apologized for?.
22 q. just on that point, mr jackson, has the governing body23 considered apologising to survivors of child sexual abuse24 at the hands of elders within the organisation?25 a. i haven't been in any discussions with regard to that.26 27 q. is that something that you foresee might happen ‐ in 28 other words, that an apology at least be considered?29 a. the governing body has apologised on other matters, so30 for me to say ‐ i can't speak collectively for everybody, 31 but we have apologised on things in the past, in other32 areas, so it is perceivable.. .

Using Watchtowers Own Reasoning Against Them RE: The Governing Body
by pale.emperor insomething occurred to me today.
quite randomly as i was working away at my desk i remembered an illustration from the bible teach book in which satan claimed he knew better than jehovah about ruling mankind.
here's the illustration from chapter 11 of that book:.

however, about had several earmarks of a cult.

The transferring of one person's consciousness to another person was the most interesting aspect to the movie - I thought anyway. All in all a great movie with a new twist on a few different issues and the horror genre.

Pillowgate: a heterosexual male's review
by neat blue dog inmy first impressions watching it, coming from a heterosexual male, was that it was just plain ridiculous (big surprise, i know), but i just want to share some thoughts as to why.. regarding the hypothetical scenario of two guys asking each other if they've ever woken up with an erection and other stuff like that: no, that would not arouse me.
i'm talking with a male, which i'm not sexually attracted to, and assuming he's a friend, it's just a casual conversation that i'm mature enough to handle.
the only way this is flirting (and then only maybe) is if one of us is gay.

by Coded Logic inso i've been watching the show and really enjoying it.
great to see a trek tv series finally get a reasonable budget.
beautiful costumes, sets, cinematography, action pieces, etc.. really my only complaints are how cg all the ships look and there's a fair bit of stiff dialog from time to time.. what do you guys think of the show?.

Pillowgate makes headlines in Finland
by Festus inlocal newspaper in finland has published an article concerning wtbs:s "pillowgate@ videos.
the local "communications manager" of jehovah's witnesses - veikko leinonen - has declined to comment them.
according to him they are for internal use only.

I hope more are leaked. Is it possible there are more in-house videos even worse than this one? Possibly other ones dealing with other subjects? This could be the tip of an iceberg.

Another Aspect from which to View Prostitution
by fulltimestudent inif we put on our western cultural (you know, the ones that say jesus made the world) eye-glasses we will 'see' prostitution as something bad.. the 'christian' influenced view is that prostitution is a criminal racket run by gangsters, and the women (and sometimes men) have either been bullied by their pimps, or drugged until they become addicts and forced to work in brothels.**.
some of that is likely true (at times), but is it always 'truth'?.
australia's government owned abc media network, has an article that invites us to take off our western cultural eye-glasses and see the world as it really is.

I have never had such a narrow stereotyped view of prostitution I think that view comes just as much from hollywood cop shows and movies as it does from church horrror stories.
I imagine with any profession there are many different levels of the business from the grimy to delux high-end and everything in between. Also, the reasons for getting into would be many and varied.
I can see there would circumstances in a person's life where it provides a useful service. Including the reasons cited lonelieness, depression etc disability would be another reason someone may avail themselves of such a service.

a question after my first JW meeting
by bleak ini attended my first jw meeting recently.
first, i would like to say what i agree with about the jehovah's witnesses beliefs and practices.. 1. they don't consider israeli's as "god's chosen people" and they don't worship israel as some holy land filled with righteous jews (although there are some there) as most so-called "christians" (christian zionists) erroneously believe they are instead of the "hypocrites" and "vipers" that it is actually filled with.. 2. they don't celebrate "holidays" like easter and christmas which are, in fact, remnants of earlier pagan practices.. 3. they don't put nation before god and christ.
they don't believe in war or going to war because of some crazy government/cia secret agenda.

Your first meeting and he tells you where you can buy a suit!?- if that doesn't raise a red flag nothing will.
When it comes to religion you should be more critical not less as you are relying on arbitrary interpretation of ancient writings, musings, allegories and stories.
Beware of love bombing. Do not check your brain at the door. Pay attention to what is really being said. Ask plenty of questions and do NOT be satisfied with answers that fob you off or do not make sense.
