FYI for RM - JWs are not taught they're indoctrinated. They're not taught how to think they're told what to think.

Are there any instances of "GOD" order and/or condoning the rape of women in the bible?
by Black Man inthis came up recently with my dyed-in-the-wool jw pioneer mother, who swears up and down that there are no scriptural instances of this happening.
i seem to remember a couple passages, but can't remember where they were..

RM - Maybe you should tell all this to your soon to be niece in law, tell her how you really feel she probably needs to hear it.
I do know JWs are insufferably arrogant and have a superiority complex when it comes to their bible "knowledge" which is very superficial and skewed. They are indoctrinated from infancy that they are in fact God's chosen people after he rejected the natural jews. They're indoctinated to believe they're special and are the only ones who can interpret the bible correctly. They believe they are better than all other religions and believe them to be part of Babylon the great marked for destruction. They look down on "worldly people."
I could go on but I'm sure you will get to know all this in time. It won't be easy for you if you want to maintain a relationship with your nephew once he is married to her. The cult she is associated with is... frankly, quite horrible.
Good luck with that.

Terrific movie monologue from "Three Billboards Outside Ebbings, Missouri'
by Captain Schmideo2 injust watched this movie last night.. the premise of the title and film centers around the mother of young girl, who was raped, murdered, and set on fire by an unknown killer.
convinced that the local police could be doing more, she erects billboards outside of town, calling into question the efforts of the town's beloved chief of police.
this does not sit well with the other townspeople, and soon, the town priest comes to visit and admonish her.and after hearing him tell her if she came to church more regularly, she would be able to find the peace and resolution she needs over her daughter's death, she delivers this speech to him:.

It's probably moot anyway! I 'm pretty sure the elders don't have to count anyone if they have doubts about their annoint...ancy?

Is My Wife Awakening?
by My Name is of No Consequence inevery now and then, my wife will talk about how things are not making sense within the org.
i usually just dismiss it as her playing mind games with me.
for example, she would ask why there are so many branches being closed or why so many congregations are being merged.

My Name - I think what happens also is if a JW does have genuine doubts and questions at times and voices them the guilt will kick in later and cause them to clam up and chastise themselves internally with "I shouldn't be talking about this, it's bad" etc etc so their opinion seems to see-saw until a critical mass is reached.
All part of the process of waking up, a good sign.

Unhappy being asked to give a Disfellowshipped Sister a ride to and from Meetings
by Isambard Crater ini'm pimo, very much against disfellowshipping, and going to a meeting leaves me feeling confused and angry at the best of times.
except an elder asked me on thursday night if i can start giving a ride to a disfellowshipped woman because she lives near me and nobody else from the hall lives in my village.
it seems the elder and his family who have been giving this woman a ride for the past six months can no longer stomach the time it takes them to go out of their way.. i thought all normal publishers weren't to have any contact with disfellowshipped people?

Lets hope the poor disfellowshipped woman reads this thread and wakes the fuck up to how cold and heartless JWs really are!

"The spread of rumours (facts about the borg) is like wildfire it is hard to control, it spreads distrust (questioning) and can undermine someone's faith (mind control programming)" ???

The road to waking up is rarely straight with anyone it can be two steps forward one step back for quite some time. What confuses things is JWs are so trained at saying what they think you want to hear it can seem like they're agreeing with you but they're just "throwing you a bone" so your suspicion of her "playing you" is justified.
But, having said that I would be cautiously encouraged by this conversation if I were you. Good job.
