i have always wondered why there are more females than males in all of the congregations that i have visited?
some of these females are in their 70's so maybe their husbands have died and women just live longer.
or could the reason be that years ago men were the breadwinners and women stayed home to raise the children thus they were home during the week when the jdubs came a knocking?

Yes, many sisters like this aspect of the meetings that the elders will "whip their man into shape" and the comraderie they recieve from the other "widows" (spiritual) or divorced women (divorced sometimes because of the religion) reinforces this attitude.

Yes I agree women are groomed to be dependent - good point orphan crow.
Biology does make it necessary for women to be dependent on protection and support - help in other words - from those around them sometimes. Certain times in their life in particular. Women with children dependent on them as their sole caregiver or because a partner isn't engaged in the lives of the children etc etc will need community support and JWs offer that - at the price of your freedom of course.

further they have implemented recurring payments "because the hard part about donating is remembering to donate," they actually said that!

i recently made the decision to stop studying with my study conductor, due to a situation i found myself in that led to a high possibility of my unbaptized publisher "rights" being taken away from me.
i have since told my study conductor i have joined a new church (to which she dropped me like a hot rock, of course).... last time i posted on here, i was progressing nicely towards baptism, and was well into it.anyhoo, i like my new church, very hillsong-esqe.
so just wondering if anyone else has stayed the course of christianity after leaving the jws, and if so - where did you go?
I now believe all organized religion to be one of the biggest scams pulled on mankind, usless at best, a divisive and destructive tool at its worst, so no.
People can be "moral" principled, honest and "good" without the excuse of "my religion says so." In fact, come to think of it if someone chooses to be all those things without the promise of heaven or threat of hell surely they would technically be more moral, principled, honest and good wouldn't they?

Tithe is a regularly sent set amount and yes the congregations are already doing that except the amount varies to some degree.
I can see them making an arrangement for pubs pledging to do the same. Sent automatically through their bank accounts a set amount depending on what they could afford.
Yep, people pay their bills like this all the time and their donations to charities. Why not to the borg in leu (have I spelt that right?) of charites?
