Jehovah Witnesses accept 2000 year old Scripture , yet reject writings of C.T.Russell the founder of the religion.of 136 years ago.?
by smiddy inis not this ironic ?
that they can claim to believe something that was written 2000 years ago and base their life and some cases their death on it , yet disown writings of the modern day founders of their religion such as c.t.russell , the so called first president of the i.b.s.a.
, later re-named jehovah witness.. and the same fate awaits the so called second president of now re-named jehovah witnesses ,if the writings ,books ,tracts ,etc .still exist in the library you sooner or later will be quizzed as to why you want to read them , it will be discouraged , and if you persist you will be brought before the elders .. so what are they afraid of people learning ?

I think that, "ignore", is what JWs do in regards to the old writings of Russell.
I had a field day last year humiliating JWs-
Are you having your special WT anniversary talk this Sunday?
No, what talk?
You know, the , " 1914-2014, 100 years and nothing has happened yet", special talk!
hahahahah One elder I talked to on the phone at the KH for 30 minutes actually let me call him stupid and he all but admitted he was dumb for "hanging in there"- it was all he knows- the KH way.

New forum: one month progress report
by Simon inwell, we survived the first month at least!
yes, the new forum is now 1 month old.. of course there have been some issues and i'm grateful that people have been patient while i worked on them.
a big thank-you to everyone who's been patient, have provided useful feedback or just been willing to adapt to something new during the transition.. i've also made some improvements along the way and am fairly happy with how things are from a basic functionality and performance perspective so it's time to start looking at some of the new features i've been planning.

Compared to the old one, I feel like I am looking through a small window. I guess I'm not in Kansas anymore.

What Things Did You Not Talk About as a JW?
by minimus inyou have to lead a secret life as a jw.
you're not supposed to over drink, go to night clubs, enjoy worldly concerts, etc.....sex, though is really taboo.
you could never freely talk about your sex life.

Why did God permit Scriptures to be corrupted?
by economy inif someone informs you that your shop caught fire, and firefighters are on the job, you will run to the spot.
however, if you had already sold that property on the previous day (which this messenger is ignorant of), you are likely to respond, saying: shop is not mine..
situation is same with god.

I stopped 2 Mormon missionaries last month- I asked them if they knew what a metaphor is? "sure"-- So, then if you knew that the book of genesis was a metaphor would the LDS religion make any sense? (eyes roll- oh-)
It's hard to have a factual religion based on a metaphor, of which Scientology comes to mind as an extreme example of human religious invention.

Well, she sure told you-- it's the KH and their ilk for friends and companionship and you for material support. Technically, she has also chosen the elders to be her male head, not you. I personally wouldn't let the KH elders cuckold me, but to each his own.
As was pointed out, some people just prefer the Watchtower religion and don't care if they are being manipulated and lied to, any more than black people as a group don't care that Obama has lied to them about his muslim, marxist and gay proclivities.
It's time to tell your wife you really, really don't like the WT religion and you detest the KH fakery. Be honest to yourself about what you want out of life - stop with the forced pleasantries--and if that means a divorce, so be it- better now than 10 or 20 years down the road when you have let the best years of your life slip away.

Do You Like or Dislike Algebra? Why and Why not?
by Scott77 injuly 28, 2012is algebra necessary?by andrew hacker .
a typical american school day finds some six million high school students and two million college freshmen struggling with algebra.
in both high school and college, all too many students are expected to fail.

Oklahoma's Algebra exam requires a 70% to pass = a D, so a Charter school could conceivably have all it's kids average a D+ and honestly claim they had a 100% pass rate. Kids could pass the easier parts of the algebra exam and fail the more advanced sections and still pass the final exam. Nothing to brag about.
IMO, all these tests are just quasi IQ tests, which employers would love to have , but can't get. I once took a MASS test for a job at a powerplant and passed it. It's the test that subtracts wrong answers from right ones, which is the kind of feedback you get for mistakes in the real world.
The way teaching works, is my daughter has passed every math class through the 9th grade( extra credit helped)- and even algebra this year in HS, but she failed the end of course exam by 7pts, so she is in summer school and hopefully she passes the exam in 3 weeks- it's a graduation requirment. She remarked how much better this teacher is than the one she had for the course.
As I tolder her, English is more important. An employer may not now or even care that you scored poorly in algebra, but they will quickly figure out you are a doofus in English- poor English might even keep you from getting hired.

Why did Ray Franz leave the Organization? Your Opinion Matters!
by SanLuisObispoTruthSeeker inwhat would make a man throw away all his earthly riches to expose the cult?
what did ray franz have to gain by leaving in total poverty?
if ray franz had stayed in place, he could have lived like a god, why did he leave?

I made some money on Ray. I sold an autographed softcover CC book on ebay for $60 after he died. He wrote two books and his admirers sent him money. If memory serves me, one lady in South Africa sent him $10K after his first book was released. It seems a few people felt sorry for him and his empty bank account. He seemed like a smart man the first time I met him in 1988, in 1993 I visited him again and for some reason I didn't think he was as smart as the first time. He tried to not upset anyone with his milktoast religious ideas- and he succeeded. I believe he did have some of moral principals and no doubt his editing work on the JW Bible ecyclopedia ( the WT didn't attempt that again) opened his eyes to the fraudulent religion he was involved in and like most ex-JWs it takes a few years to act on the "new truth".
I wonder, if he had gotten the boot at a younger age, if he might have become a real activist for ex-JWs. By the time his books came out, he was focusing on trying to survive as a reitired senior citizen on the meager SS checks that WT slaves end up with after 30 years of obedient service.

Active JW's, can you defend "THE TRUTH?"
by DATA-DOG inas of yet, no member of the jehovah's witness faith can defend their unique beliefs.
when the dust settles, it all comes down to blind faith in men's ever-changing ideas.
this "unique belief" was not a "true teaching of the bible.

The Truth is a special blend of WT ideas that JWs love- I think their religion sucks, but JWs crave it. Frankly, it doesn't matter how the WT leadership relabels their dogmas, they will still stink.
