Strange Moment During The 2015 Regional Convention

hi, i'm new here but hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.

during the "imitate jesus" rc there was a strange moment where they played a video of a brother trying to explain the 1914 teaching.

the brother quickly goes through all the scriptural "proofs" and the householder is dumbfounded.

Last year I called up a few KH's, usually on Saturday morning- I wanted to see what they thought.

"Are you having your special WT anniversary talk this Sunday?"

"We're having a talk, but I don't know anything about the anniversary talk"

"You haven't heard about it yet?"

"No, what is it?"

"It's called, 1914 to 2014, JWs celebrate 100 years and nothing has happened, yet"- haha"

Surprisingly, several elder types tried to do damage control with me, but ended up in deep doodoo, instead. One elder whined, "I'll bet you think I'm stupid" - well, what do you think a smart person would do when the WT changed the 1914 generation again?-

So yes, JWs are embarrassed about 1914-2014 and they hope the householder doesn't remind them about their special anniversary.

The Confederate Flag

the latest controversy over the confederate flag just sums up to me the state of dysfunction that exists in american society.. in summary: a white supremacist nutter shoots 9 black people dead in a church.

he's clearly inspired by the messages of others which the confederate flag is often a symbol of.. it seems like a no-brainer to remove it.

not only isn't it removed, it isn't even lowered at all as a mark of respect.. and of course now there are the people who want to defend their right to have it.

The "knock out game" was a myth.

I don't care if you personally want to believe that, but anecdotal and video evidence from these unprovoked black on white attacks shows otherwise. Anyone who does diligent research for an hour can find out for themselves that this "game" is true. Blacks brag about their KO's and post videos all the time among themselves. Self-hating whites need to educate themselves. The death toll from this game is escalating, but we have a DOJ that prefers to keep it out of the news media, rather than publicly address this as a hate crime and muster federal resources to stop it.

Ice cores from Greenland glaciers are 100's of thousands of years old- and perhaps easier to understand,

is the sediment cores bored out of bottom of arctic lakes in Alaska- they show seasonal lines in the sediment from silt washed into the lakes from spring runoffs. The yearly lines are continuous and often go way past 10,000 years. They can also carbon date the pollen found in those silt layers. A global flood would have obliterated those sediment records.

I called professor Richard Alley at Penn State Univ, who was on the Greenland team and he talked to me for an hour ( mid 90's)- he told me all about the glacial lakes core bores. You never read any stories in the Awake about this science. Prof. Alley wrote a book- The two Mile Time Machine- I have a copy.

perhaps it's due in part to something called normalcy bias- a definition i have found is:.

WT will sink its own ship due to inabilities to effectively adapt to social evolutionary pressure

The LDS religion (Mormons) adapted and grew despite more overwhelming odds against them. I see no reason why the JWs won't adapt and survive. They finally embraced the Internet and I suspect more and more JWs are getting their leads from visits to the JW website. I also see that the WT is slowly adapting. The 5 day district assemblies of my era have gone the way of the Dodo bird- The WT leaders are gradually paring down to just a weekend of talks. They are marketing more to immigrant groups as they see more increases from them. Cold calling and random neighborhood witnesssing is going to become less important to JW growth in the future. All they need is to get lucky and have some teensy prediction appear to come true, to reinvigorate the sleepy mob in the KH.

JWs, IMO need to somehow drop their no-blood transfusion dogma and the direct shunning of former members- that has to stop. No more breaking up families and killing their kids from lack of blood transfusions. If they do that, I will no longer care much about the JWs. They can fritter their life away studying WT mags for all I care.

I must be an anomaly, as I read the Orwellian world of JWs off the shelf at the library, followed the bread crumb trail and exited all on my own 6 months later- no hand holding required.(1988)

Two creation stories in the bible, why have I never noticed this??

i'm reading a very interesting book right now "your god is too small" by the atheist republic.

it makes the point that there are two creation accounts in the bible!.

in one humans are created after the animals in the second humans are created before the animals.

Jw's don't let their kids die because of blood...

another nauseating detail i remember from saturdays program.

there is a video (one of so many) shaming young people for being afraid to admit they are jw's.

one australian girl talks about how one of her teachers was saying jw's let their children die over the blood issue (fact) and she goes on to say how that is not true.

A little know statistic- JW women are 2x more likely to die in childbirth than non-JW women from complications of post delivery bleeding.

Another Emma dies in the UK- back in 2007, leaving twin babies without the love and care of a mother.

I have often wondered over the years how the father and those 2 babies fared-- they are almost 8 years old now. Are they bitter that the WT rules took their mother from them? Maybe the father remarried and the kids don't even know what happened. I wish that UK paper would do a follow up story sometime.

Normalcy Bias is part of human nature and, to some extent, we are all guilty of participating in it. Unfortunately, the Normalcy Bias inhibits our ability to prevent and to eventually cope with a disaster once it is underway. People with Normalcy Bias have difficulty reacting to something they have not experienced before. The Normalcy Bias also leads people to interpret warnings and to inaccurately re frame information in order to project an optimistic outcome which leads the person to infer a less serious situation. In short, it is kind of a pain-killing drug which numbs a person to an impending danger.

Well isn't that what JWs do? The GB does no wrong, things inside the WT org are always viewed as better, doctrinal changes are incremental changes, not outright mistakes/false prophecies and negative WT opinions are attributed to really bad people, who are mostly on the outside. (aka, apostates)..-so outside information is usually discredited at first sight- (a thought stopping technique).

2018 will make 30 years since my exit from the KH-- and information about the WT didn't fall into my lap. back then you had to actively hunt for it, unlike in the Internet age.

I concluded some years ago, that the WT may not collapse due to efforts of ex-members on the outside.

Is this doctrine still in in effect?

so something i never knew was the fact jw's were taught that jesus is only the mediator for the anointed class and not for everyone.

i only found this out after reading "crisis of conscience" and i was actually pretty shocked to learn so.

if that is the case, when they pray why even bother saying the words "in the name of jesus christ we ask"?

Meat in due season- it took me a long time to figure that out. Basically, the WT provides what the JWs crave=

A- they are special= jehoover has chosen them alone, as his holy people

B- pretty soon, jehoover will destroy all the goats and really bad people, like the apostates here.

C They get a big reward for all their worthless field service work and literature study and the KH's they built and the money they donated to WT enterprises= JWs will get to cheat death and never have to worry about mortgages, retirement planning (what's that?), dying, getting sick, having cavities, cataracts, flatulence,etc- poof- it's all gone. Hooray!

It's sad but,

JWs wouldn't stay in the KH very long, if this reward wasn't constantly preached to them. Its what they crave and that's the least the GB can do for them. I think the GB has to know it's all a lie, but nevermind, JWs want the lie rather than the truth, so like a good corporate business, the customer gets what he wants. How many times can they rework the 1914 generation , until JWs forget about it? They forgot about Jesus the mediator a couple generations ago.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses Christian or Cult, Do JWs Offer Solutions for Local and Global Problems of life?

the awake on "hope for the homelessness" was one of the worse illustrations how the cult has no love for anyone that can't provide donations to further this spiritual ponzi scheme!

the premise of this awake made no sense, i've read many books and took classes on social issues affecting mankind, the awake does not help fix the problem.

what did this magazine offer those who are suffering the humiliation of living out of their cars or "tent city" or under a bridge?

the elders or publishers soon helped Carlos fill out the government paperwork and vouched that he was a good person and should qualify for government housing!

While JWs may tell the public that jehoovers kingdom is the only hope for mankind, they belie that claim by their constant reliance of Caesar's social welfare programs. I tell JWs they are social parasites= they suck all the material good they can from human society, but seldom do any public charitable work of a material nature to help their less fortunate fellow man.

of course JWs will try to deny that accusation- but I have an ace up my sleeve-- the speed dial number on my iphone for the largest food pantry in the area.

"here Mr elder, call them up and tell them to deliver a donation barrel to your KH so you can collect food from your JW members to help the poor- like Jesus would do."

I have yet to have a JW take me up on that offer-- they hang their head and walk away as I call out-- There goes another JW social parasite. What would Jesus say?
