Is the Centenary Campaign in August 2014 really for the public?
by truthseeker ini was thinking about what i read in a recent kingdom ministry about the historical campaign the jws will engage in this august.. this is not really for the public.. it is to keep the jw's busy, not thinking about why 100 years has gone by with no end in sight, but to buoy up flagging enthusiasm.. they trying to make jws maintain a constant state of tension and expectation..

they're trying to make jw.org the most visited website so they have something to brag about in the wt/awake magazines. they'll say it's proof of jehovah's backing when really it was because they just told every jw to spend a whole month sending people to it.

Misappropriation of funds (Project for an Assembly Hall in Guadalajara)

congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

I can't actually recall any points being made about this passage whenever we did the bible reading. Probably why i only just realised it existed not that long ago.
" No man who has been castrated by having his testicles crushed or who has had his male organ cut off may come into the congregation of Jehovah."

Was this so common in ancient Israel that they had to make a rule about it?
'The Law further read: “No man castrated by crushing the testicles or having his male member cut off may come into the congregation of Jehovah.” ( De 23:1 ) Such ‘castration’ did not relate to congenital defects or to an accidental condition. (Compare Le 21:17-21; De 25:11, 12 .) Evidently, therefore, it had to do with deliberate emasculation for immoral purposes, such as homosexuality. Such a one was to be kept out of the congregation, not being allowed to associate with it, thereby protecting its purity.'
That sounds like an awful lot of pain to go through just to have sex with another man which, unless i'm mistaken, requires for you to have all the required "parts".
Just thinking of some old guys in the desert dressed in ridiculous clothes reading out these rules to thousands of guillible people who just go along with it just makes me so glad i wasn't born back then

lets all sing songs about how vengeful and destructive "our loving god" can be...along with cartoonish pictures...... all rejoice at the death of the evil people who used their "god-given free will", then got punished for doing so!.
