Thank you for your response & for pointing those things out Euphemism . Like I said, I'm still searching for some answers ... I posted this in response to some information I've read lately and my own misgivings about this observance.

Memorial observance It isnt about Jesus at all!
by 1badmutha inwe all know that jesus is a pretty much-overlooked figure by the wbts.
they refuse to celebrate his birth for a number of convoluted reasons, which i refuse to argue.
but, it is curious that they celebrate the death of christ.

We all know that Jesus is a pretty much-overlooked figure by the WBTS. They refuse to celebrate his birth for a number of convoluted reasons, which I refuse to argue. But, it is curious that they celebrate the DEATH of Christ. Yes, I know he was a “ransom” sacrifice for our sins… but how would you feel if every year a group of nuts celebrated you sons’ death? Pretty sick & morbid, huh? All the other "Christians" celebrate Jesus… his life & his teachings. And while "Christians" acknowledge his sacrifice, they celebrate Easter as a time of rebirth. While JW’s engage in the ever morbid, celebration of his death. After all, the WBTS has its roots in Free Masonry. The founder of the WBTS was a 33 rd degree Mason (with ties to paganism & the occult).
(Russell had decorated his art with the great pyramid showing his affinity with outright paganism. His books displayed a winged disk the very same picture appears in Rosicrucian pamphlets and in Egyptian hieroglyphs. Russell influence in the occult continued until he died where he had a pyramid shaped tombstone over his grave as a memorial of their founders influence which began this non scriptural practice of predicting the future through a stone edifice in a pagan land. But not only was he buried with a pyramid but on it was engraved a cross.)
If you don’t really worship Jesus in the first place, don’t value his importance, and would rather set yourself up as an all-knowing intermediary with god, wouldn’t you reject the idea of celebrating Jesus’ birth and feast on the day of his death? And why is it that no other religious group who profess to be Christians, hold their Easter observances on Nissan 14 like the WBTS? Two high-holy days observed by Pagans & Satanists fall within the so-called "memorial" of Nissan 14:
March 20-22
Satanic
Spring Equinox
PelusiaOstara (Spring solstice)
Invocation of Hindi Holi
TubulustrumRoman purification
Shab-i-barat Night of Forgiveness IslamMarch 24
Satanic
Feast of the Beast
Feast of Priapus
Festival of IsisMock Wedding
Bride of Satan
This ritual is actually the ancient gnostic (satanic) ritual of saying no to the body of Christ. This ancient satanic ritual is now secretly practiced under the disguise of the Memorial Supper - where the elements of communion are passed and no one partakes of the elements.
I’m a recently freed ex-JW slave, who still very much bears the scars of being in the
truthlie. Since my mind has been liberated, I have been forced to take a critical look at the practices I was once engaged in… this is just one of them that doesn’t sit right with me….Still searching….

Good Experiences as a Jehovah's Witness
by minimus ininstead of bringing out the negatives about being a witness, let's relate some good experiences!
i'll start.
i remember a sister that brought up all her kids up in the "truth" and her husband was very opposed but later he started studying and he even got baptized.

Over the years, I studied with two little girls and an older woman who became like family to me. Thank God none of them accepted the so called "truth"! The one thing I got out of my bible studies & field service was that it made me have me more tolerance & compassion. Under normal circumstances, I would never go to a stanger and have a discussion, especially in some of the rough areas we preached in. The more empathy I developed for the people I preached to, the more I started questioning the rationale behind counting time, and not doing more to help people... (with something more substantial than spiritual food). That was the begining of the end for me... no more good times

Stupidest thing a JW ever told you
by Nosferatu inwhat is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?
we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.
for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.

Stupid comments, well let's see...
In his parting talk, a District overseer (slave master), told the sisters in the audience with unbelieving husbands that God would reward them with new husbands in the new system. (Never mind that they might actually love their unbelieving husbands, & newsflash... that little promise is nowhere in the Bible... somebody was making stuff up again!)
When I was in middle school, I asked the brothers why sisters couldn't carry the microphones (which is idiotic to begin with). I was told that it was a special privilege God reserved only for "brothers".
Out of the blue one day, an older so called "sister" told me that Jehovah doesn't give everyone a husband. (Thanks for the F.Y.I.)

If God And His Thoughts Are Perfect - How Did Humans & Satan Become Evil?
by Latin assassin from Manhattan inthis question may not make too much sense.
if a man creates a computer, using the best parts and software design with the intent of analyzing data accurately and reliably, would he also design it with the ability or freedom to 'crash' or spread viruses to other computers if it chose to?
if a man trains a dog with the intent of being a family pet, would he also give it the knowledge to kill humans or other animals?

Quote - "If God really believes in justice, why didn't he destroy Satan from the beginning? After all, who is Satan that God should have to prove so much? After all, Satan is evil right? It's the same as a judge having to prove the reason for his existence to a child molester. If a man tried to rape your wife, would you find it necessary to prove to him why he is wrong, or would you put a bullet in his head first?" God allowed Christ to die, but never laid a hand on Satan.... It makes me wonder if we need to reexamine their "relationship". Was Satan created or was he always in existence. Is he the Yin to God's Yang? Is evil the balance to good? Could good exist without evil? Maybe God & Satan are a dual being. If you are a two headed beast, you can't decapitate one of your heads without risking extinction... Just a thought. 1badmutha
