Returning
by Doubtfully Yours ini was a member of this community a long time ago and have lurked for years.
well, i am back and still thoroughly conflicted, with my heart/loyalties as divided as ever.
please welcome me back, hear me out, and make me feel as welcomed as before.. the wtbts has changed so very much in recent years that i feel trapped in a completely different religion altogether.

Welcome back, Like you, I also have not been on here for a while. But as someone who was DF'd 23 years ago, I can honestly look back and say it was the best thing that ever happened to me. At the time it was, of course heartbreaking, and really took me a good 6 years to undo all the brainwashing. But the point I'm trying to make is that there comes a time in life when you have to decide one way or the other. If we have a problem with our lives, and do nothing to remedy the problem, that problem will hinder any progression you wish to make, whether it be at a personal, secular, or educational level, and you will find that in a few weeks or a few months, or even a few years time, you will be right back at the same mental space that you are at now, and life will just go round in circles. Good luck -

I saw prince a few years back at the O2 a few years back, He does put on an amazing show. I think he got roped into Jdub land by Larry Graham ex" sly stone " member. I can't see him going door to door tho, but I wouldn't mind going to the Sunday talk if he was the visiting speaker πΈπ€βοΈ -

Elders Manual
by MisterP ini just found a copy of the elders handbook on another site, and before i go gun-ho with it at some members of my family, i would like to know whether anyone here can corroborate its authenticity.

Vidiot, I totally agree with you, I have been DF'd for over 20years now, and once I got over the years of brainwashing and guilt, I finally was at peace with myself, but my father who is a genuinely lovely bloke, has remained in the religion, and although he never disowned me or turned his back on me, I always new that he would only visit me in secret and would never be seen out in public with me. And I've been fine with that for all these years, it really didn't bother me, until I became a dad for the first time 3 years ago. Now I understand how strong the love is between a parent and child, and I could not imagine anyone or anything that could come between me and my daughter. And it has really upset me and makes me very angry that this F@@@ing so called christian organization comes between my father's and my relationship as well as him and his granddaughters relationship , as he hardly ever comes round to see her. So any advice from anyone here would be most appreciated. Thanks for all the comments -

There was a whole bunch of me and mates who left at the same time. This was over 20 years ago,and myself and 2 friends told the elders exactly what we thought of them and the organisation , and it was no surprise we were DFed, where as the other 3 just faded away, they avoided any meetings with elders at all costs, and two of them had fathers who were elders, and they still managed to slip thru the net. They will give up in the end.
The way you wish to leave the organisation may depend on two factors.
1) if you have family still in it, will they speak to you if you are DFed?
2) Do you have friends who you wish to stay in contact with, who are still in?
For me personally, I'm so glad now that I got DFed all those years ago, I did struggle with my conscience initially for about 6 years, but because I was DFed and not just faded away, it was a lot harder for me to get back in, and there were times I really wanted to go back to see my old friends and to feel the warmth and love of the people I grew up with, and now I'm so glad I didn't. I can't think of a bigger waist of time than being a JW. There is so much in this world to explore and do, with so many wonderful people who are not tainted with the JW brush. Just leave it all behind, and walk away, Don't worry how you leave, it really does not matter in the long run. Spread your wings, live your life, be free.

First law of thermodynamics vs God vs Big Bang
by EndofMysteries infirst law of thermodynamics, that energy cannot be created or destroyed but changed from one form to another.
how does that fit in with god and the big bang to you?
does it make one make more sense then the other to you?

Have you heard what Fermilab are up to, they have come up with an experiment that will test whether we live in a holographic simulation , it sounds like the matrix, but if this is successful then it will put a whole new perspective in this question -

God does exist here is my nonbiblical reason:
by Curious Kitten in(before you read i hope no one gets offended by the word retarted...that s how i thought when i was 13)my mom and dad are divorced and my father never helped my mother on raising us, so basically she was a single-mother.
he just abandoned my three brothers and me and my mother had to work two jobs all of the time so we never got to see her.
when we did see her it was after school, but all she did was yell at us, make food, and leave to her next job.

You may find the research of Dr. Rick Strassman of interest. He did the only clinical trails of DMT in america back in the 1990's, and his conclusions are pretty amazing, I won't give the game away, I'll let you look it up. He's written a book called "The Spirit Molecule", and a documentary film of the same name has been made. This is all peer reviewed science.... no new age mumbo jumbo -

Bible Christianity is Holy baloney
by Half banana inunderpinning all the claims of the jw org is a belief in the sanctity of the bible as gods word.
this holy assumption is certainly never challenged by the watchtower and neither does the believer dare to use critical thinking to evaluate the source of his or her beliefs.
the watchtower org, for obvious reasons would not do this as they would need to sell up and hand back the money were they to admit that the bible is just a piece of literature and not divine in origin.

@ HalfBanana, I read a book a few years back by Tim Freke and Peter Gandy called the Jesus Mysteries thesis, which basically describes what you have been talking about -

@Charlie, what if the Jews of today, do not originate from those of antiquity, I only mention this because of the ongoing battle of DNA results in the peer review papers at the moment , it's very much a hot topic in genetics right nowhttp://news.sciencemag.org/biology/2013/10/did-modern-jews-originate-italy
