I thought having bridesmaids was a pagan custom. They are supposed to divert the attention of the Devil from the bride. What about the wedding ring?

I mentioned this in another column. Apparently, even the Mormons have their own silly rules. We were being visited (summertime) by 2 Mormon lads and Clyde and I sat on the front porch conversing with them. One of them asked if he could use our bathroom. I immediately opened the front door to usher him in and show him the bathroom, but he stepped back and asked that Clyde take him in because he wasn't supposed to be alone in the house with a woman.

The last congregation I attended refused to turn the money over to a neighboring congregation although the WTS pressured them to do so through the CO. Will other congregations cave into such pressure. perhaps.
Several years ago there were about 6 elders in a congregation near us who lost their position because they refused to turn money over to a neighboring congregation.

SECOND ADVENTISTS NOT 7TH DAY ADVENTISTS INFLUENCED RUSSELL

Interestingly, my new daughter-in-law is loosely connected with 7th day adventists. Two days ago I visited her aunt who is into the religion a little more than she is. I asked the aunt if she had ever heard of William Miller. She said, "Yes, The Great Disappointment." I said, "Oh you've heard of that? I understand that the Witnesses and the 7th Day Adventists have the same roots in William Miller." I also mentioned it was in 1834, and she corrected me that it was 1844. I mentioned that I bet there isn't one witness out of a thousand that knows about this.

Trying to annul your baptism, WT says forget about it.
by cattails inthe koolaid wt issue for february has an interesting article about when your baptism can be considered invalid.but the main thrust of the article is aimed at making it super clear that if you were present at your bapt.
talk and answered the two questions then forget about it, elders are put on notice to not let anyone off the hook.but... if you were committing a serious sin and hid it at the time of your baptism, then it was invalid, and point is, they'd still announce you not being "one of j.w.s" so if you plead your case to walk away from the wt saying you didn't know what you were getting into, it will do no good, but it will be grounds for an announcement.just ol' mother wt tightening up loose ends.

"I know kids who were baptized before they even hit the mark of ten years old." Yes, my daughter-in-law's niece was baptized at age 9. Her father objected, but her mother went to the elders who visited the father and set him straight. She is already shunning her cousin that she used to play with, who is not even a JW. There's another kid headed for disaster.

JW's aren't the only religion. Clyde and I were visited by two missionary Mormon boys for several weeks. They would usually sit on the front porch (summertime), chit chat a little and share some scripturees. Occasionally I would join them. One day one of the boys asked to use our bathroom. So I opened the door, offered to lead him through the house to the bathroom, but he stopped and asked Clyde if he wouldn't do it instead because it was inappropriate for him to be in the house alone with a woman. I had a hard time not laughing. I was close to three times as old as he was. Did he really think I was going to jump him? I can't even imagine the witnesses being that anal.
