  i'm on page 90 right now...the info is definitely new and gives me a totally diff view as to how i used to think of faithful and discreet slave.

  i was thoroughly disgusted with the way the brothers handled the oral sex and leadership problem and the insight on the scriptures book...... still have alot of questions though.

  Hi there - when I first read the book, I was afraid to tell my husband - for a different reason. He had already been slowly fading for his own reasons, and I was afraid that when he found out about all the things that went on in Bethel and the hypocrisy of the WT teachings, he would get so livid that he would get himself disfellowshipped. But one day he found the book that I had been reading, and we began some long long quiet discussions.

  Later we talked to our two adult sons and our daughter-in-law, and we were surprised at how easy it was to convince them that things were wrong in the organization. Then I made the mistake of talking to our daughter and son-in-law. Long story short--she won't have anything to do with anybody in our family--hasn't talked to me or anyone in our family for almost five years. And she only lives 10 miles away! None of us are DF'd.

  You just don't know how people will react. I grieve every day about our daughter but am so thankful that the rest of our family is intact.

  using sandwich signs, loud speakers on top of autos and yes they even picketed this.

  the april 2012 wt study article has some of the most strongly worded statements about contact with disfellowshipped family members.. page 12, paragraph 17: -.

  The sad fact is that it has the opposite effect, including sucide so it cannot be divinely inspired - as that law is based on what is the loving thing to do.

  A brother in our area was driven to suicide because his family turned against him, and he wasn't even disfellowshipped. This guy had three brothers, and all of them told him that they wouldn't have anything more to do with him if he didn't start coming back to the KH. He was also losing his house, and he asked his parents if he could stay with them for awhile until he got back on his feet. They told him that his wife could come to stay with them, but he could not.

  not clear if it was all talks or just the public talk.

  he understood it to mean all public talks in the circuit.

  You missed the point. We just talked to the brother to verify. This elder's duties are to monitor all talks including the Ministry School, to make sure that the material was being followed exactly as it was assigned. It caused quite a buzz in the congregation. This had nothing to do with the Public Talk Coordinator.

Not clear if it was all talks or just the public talk. He understood it to mean all public talks in the circuit. Kind of like an “Inspector General” position. Obviously this is a new position because an extensive letter was read from the Society appointing this brother in charge.

  I would appreciate if anybody has heard anything about this and can expand on what little information we have.

  60 yr. old needs chaperon????

  so, a female relative of mine who is 60 but inactive in the truth had their mate dying in the hospital.

  the older sister + husband and old brother (of dying man) (active witnesses) come to visit and stay at their home.

  the old sister is staying at the hospital around the clock for the duration of the visit but tells her sister-in-law that she must have a chaperon at the house if she is going to be there with her husband and her dying husbands older brother?

  Clyde and I had two Mormon men (boys) visit us. It was summertime, and we sat out on the porch and chatted. One of the boys asked to use the bathroom. I went to the door to usher him inside and show him the way. He stopped and explained that it should be my husband as it was inappropriate for him to be alone with me in the house.

  Hey guys! I was at least three times his age. Did he really think that I would molest him?

  JW's aren't the only one with funny rules.

  Very tiny change to Service Meeting Announcements protocol.

  for those who want to keep up with the "pure language", i found out this week that at the most recent elder's school, they were told that the announcements should no longer include the following:.

  1. name of public talk and speaker for sunday.

  2. synopsis of all the parts that are coming up on the rest of the service meeting.

  Do they ever make announcements any more about who is in the hospital or who is sick in the congregation?

  Just one time during the years that my mother was sick the PO announced that it would be appreciated if someone could help out. It never happened again. Maybe he got counselled for that.

  I know this is late but I'm happy to announce that this year I finally celebrated my first thanksgiving!!!

  it was truly great!

  it was work related so a lot of people from work were there but i had a great time!

  almost everybody brought some kind of food and we ate at my friends a coworker's house!

  We had Thanksgiving at our house for several years with no problems--even inviting my father (elder) and mother. We just didn't call it Thanksgiving even though my father was usually asked to say say the blessing. Our excuse was: turkeys and cranberries are on sale, we have the day off from work, and come over for dinner. I will admit, the last time my father said a prayer at Thanksgiving (before his death) made a comment in the prayer that we don't celebrate worldly holidays.

  The other holidays are another matter.
