JW's and the care of the elderly
by Lynnie ini've been df'd for 35 years and my uber pioneer mother is getting on in years, 84 to be exact and starting to have signs of dementia and the social worker is worried that she can't be left alone at all anymore.
she just had her second hip replaced and is in rehab.
my uber elder cousin is the power of attorney since my mom was told i couldn't be trusted since i'm df'd.

You could ask your elder cousin if he can tell you why your mother's long term care insurance policy was cancelled. -

NEW LIGHT ALERT! TARGET 2015 END TIMES! EVE WAS CREATED 40 YEARS AFTER ADAM! THE END IS NEAR!
by Trailer Park Pioneer inthis is going around the kingdom halls now, i thought it was a hoax but are not all the end time dates produced by the organization some hoax or con?
the reason why the end did not come in 1975 was the watchtower society had not put eve's creation in their equation.
i was told when we had a "meet and greet" if "we knew the date of eve's creation we would know the year jehovah was going to destroy the earth.. it's been 40 years since 1975, can you believe it's been 40 years since "stay alive till 1975!"?

Long before 1966...I think it was late 50's, I asked a CO about 4026 and the 6,000 years. I asked if that wouldn't mean Armageddon would be over by 1975 and the 1000 year reign would begin. He replied that we didn't know how long between Adam's creation and Eve's. I thought that made sense, but Freddie decided to clarify things in 1966 with his idea that Adam could hardly wait until he had a mate. -

I remember a study article much like that more like 20-25 years ago. Although a good dub at the time, I still thought it was wierd.

I am JW.ORG
by LogCon infamous quote from wuthering heights revised.. '... i am jw.org!
it's always, always in my mind: not as a pleasure, any more than i am always a pleasure to myself, but as my own being.
so don't talk of our separation again: it is impracticable...'.

Will someone please answer the question that Bafh asked?:
My question is where are they buying the merchandise from? Directly from the society or from those companies run by JWs set up to "support" the mininstry by making all kinds of binders, folders, etc.?

A QUESTION FOR JW'S who say, "The brothers were overly zealous" about 1975
by Terry in"what was the actual significance of that year, then?".
if jw's were overly zealous, what was the exact amount of zeal encouraged by the wts for a non-event which took up.
over 7 years of every jw's time?.

Publisher increase for 1974: 13.5%!!
Publisher increase for 1975: 9.7%!!
Publisher increase for 1976: 3.7%!!
Publisher decrease for 1977: -1%!!
Publisher decrease for 1978: -1.4%!!
The most significant growth in the history of Jehovahs Witnesses took place in the runup years to 1975. To all you lurking Witnesses and apologists: Do you really think that such growth was accomplished by 'a few over zealous' publishers that 'read too much into the 1975 date'?
Thanks Sparky - I remember it wasn't until 1979 that the WT very casually admitted that they were just a teeny bit responsible for the 1975 fiasco--since their numbers were starting to go negative.

One Day assembly in Arizona- $17,000 !!
by AndDontCallMeShirley ini heard from a reliable source that a one-day assembly in arizona last weekend had a "cost" to the publishers of $17,000.. predictably, the elders were nice enough to obligate the attendees to a $6,000 donation to wt before the assembly "costs" (i.e.
"rent/extortion) were even met.
$11,000 rent plus $6000 in extra "donations".

Back in the 60's and early 70's there was one high school in our area that gave us their facility for free--and assemblies were 3 days back then.

Terminology the Society Hates?
by toweragent inin my most recent talk, i got counseled for using some terms that were not prefered.
for example i said "new testament" rather than "the christian greek scriptures".
i also used the term "gospel", but even worse, i made reference to the "synoptic gospels" and the "gnostic gospel".. i guess i never thought of it before, but when i looked at the societies information on the matter they always say things like, "the so-called new testament..." or "the so-called synoptic gospels..." why with all the "so-called?".

by sylvlef inkm august 2014, page 3 paragraph 6(article for this week's service meeting):.

An elder explained this to me years ago. World War I may have started in August, but it wasn't until October that 10 nations were involved, and the number 10 is a perfect number. Made sense to me at the time....
