I'm a member of the local wellness center and often use their computer to go on JWD. Two days ago access was denied. It then said I could set up an ID and passcode, but the information would go to the system administrator. I wonder now if it was for the same reason.

Just received the latest Free Minds Journal...thinking of sending pg.11 out
by whyizit ini've had a few light and heavy conversations (always peaceful, always "asking" rather than telling), with my jw friend.
i just received the latest free minds journal and wondered about sending "anonymously" page 11 to her.
it gives all the flip-flops of what a generation is, according to the wts.. we have touched on a variety of subjects that she just knew the wt could explain, but alas they could not!

Birthdays were "absolutely out", but now they are back in.
Are you sure they're back in? I know the January Awake mentioned ancient customs that are no longer significant, but I doubt if anyone will apply that to birthdays.

I survived the meetings by brushing up on my Spanish. Looked up the scriptures and wrote down 10 to 20 new words every week--I far as anyone could tell, I was taking notes. No one seemed to notice that I wasn't using an English Bible. I only attended because my father needed a ride.

Breastfeeding not allowed.
by The Scotsman inshocker at the group last week..... i was at the group last week (1st in about 4 weeks) and the conductor (the p.o.
) takes a sister aside and tells her that she was not allowed to breastfeed her baby before or after the book study because "someone" found it awkward.. hmm, i wonder if it was him that found it awkward.. anyway the twist in the story is that the group meets at her house.
the sisters husband was far from happy but is to reserved to do anything about it.

Good Grief! I breast fed all three of my children while at meetings and assemblies and never heard a word against it. We didn't have mother's rooms back then. Never exposed myself although I saw another sister who did. That was during the 60's and 70's. I would think they would be even more liberal now--but apparently not.

$3.15 per gallon and rising!
by Outaservice inhas gas prices affected your service time any?
outaservice (who had to quit altogether ) .
seriously, do you think it will affect the good ole society?

In th UK its about £5 or $10 per gallon, I'd love prices like $4.
My son's answer to that was, he'd be glad to pay $10 per gallon if he didn't have to pay property tax. He's paying almost $600 per month just for the privilege of living in his house--on top of a house payment. Do you have property tax in the UK?

Elders in their 20's?
by Princess Daisy Boo inmy little sister called me just now.
exciting news - stop the presses - her husband has been made an elder.
she is 27 and he is 26... is that not a little young to be an elder?
-

Clyde was 21 when he was appointed Assistant Congregation Servant (second in command in the congregation) - that was before the current elder arrangement. He believed strongly that he should only use the Bible when making decisions--this didn't set too well with the other servants.

The Sick And Aged: Watchtower Approves of "Corban"
by metatron inwhy does the watchtower society approve of 'corban' in relation to sick or aged relatives or spiritual brothers and sisters?.
example: the april 15 watchtower article "isolated but not forgotten" talks about the need to visit "our dear" brothers and sisters in .
nursing homes.

The April 15 Watchtower article "Isolated but not Forgotten" talks about the need to visit "our dear" brothers and sisters in nursing homes. This is a good and noble cause. However, we all know that elders and publishers can get out of any responsibilityfor these suffering people by simply saying "Well, I can't because I have to get my field service time in". Pioneers can do much the same. Too bad about Dad's Alzheimers. We can't help because of our "ministry". And why does the Watchtower keep printing these empty reminders? Because it makes them look righteous - while the problem goes on and on.
This is the very thing that got me out of the organization. My parents were considered pillars in the congregation. My father was instrumental in getting their local Kingdom Hall built. Because he was retired, he was always being called on to help with maintaining the building. Then my mother's health began to deteriorate and she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's which steadily got worse. It was a very very difficult time. My father and I almost single-handedly took care of her needs for more than seven years during which time she suffered two broken legs. Almost all their "friends" disappeared during this time. I remember countless times asking different witnesses if they would be so kind to visit my parents. I would often get something like, "Well I would, but I am pioneering next month." Or they would say they would stop in, but rarely did. In fact, there was one 6-month period when absolutely no one, including relatives, came by even though my parents lived less than a mile from the KH. On at least two occasions we saw a carload of witnesses go down their road, stop at the neightbors homes but ignore my parent's home.
I think the catalyst for me was when my father told me that his book study conductor was asking about service arrangements, and my father raised his hand and said, "I'd be a special pioneer two times over if I could count the time taking care of my wife." I asked my father, How many people volunteered to come to your house to watch her so YOU could go in service?" He said, "None."
I became acutely aware that, even thought the WT would occasionally print a few words encouraging the publishers to give attention to the needs of the elderly, it was quickly forgotten. The only thing that was really important was field service.
After my mother's death, some of my relatives went to my father to let him no that I was no longer attending meetings or reporting field service. (I was too worn out working full time and spending most of the rest of my time at their house). Incredibly, my father turned on me, and I gave most of his estate to my daughter because she was still a faithful witness.
I'm still numb....

Putting up with JW husband who never lifts a finger to help do any of that above stuff.
I used to get upset with Clyde for not helping. Later I found out that he didn't even want to be at the meetings and it was his way of protest.

by WTWizard inhow should we treat others?mp3 keep on doing goodmp3 deliverance by god's kingdom is at hand!mp3 while you are young, choose to serve jehovahmp3 make spiritual progress by following paul's examplemp3 pursue "holiness in gods fear" .
as i am not interested in downloading audio files that will permanently be on my computer, i would like to see a pdf file scan of the whole magazine in its entirity.
notice that the study articles are available as mp3 files, which does little good if one wants to look at it at their own pace and tear the material apart.. notice the theme: doing good.
