An elderly brother that we knew lamented that he wasn't so concerned about surviving Armageddon as he was about surviving until Armageddon.

"That 37 year into 1000 year reign thing....when did the GT happen then? In 1975? Is that what they are suggesting? Or is 1975 the new 1914?"
There is a chart in the book "Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God" book that shows 1975 as the beginning of the thousand year reign.
I'm out of town now so can't give you the page number, but it's in the first part of the book. I remember studying that book--Clyde was the conductor--late 60's or early 70's.

Disgusting
by Vegas Girl ini was reading the find whitney heichel page of fb and the moderator has posted info about another missing girl in oregon (non-jw) well, apparantley this missing girl has some sort of a past or something and people are getting on the site (mostly jw's) and making rude remarks about this girl has a bad past and that it's prob her fault.
i can't fathom how they can get on there after the horrible tragedy of whitney and yet because this other missing girl is not jw somehow now they attach fault to her going missing.
this is exactly why i can't deal with jw's.

By the way this Holt guy could receive the death penalty because he committed three serious crimes all together
at the same event, kidnapping, rape and murder. There has been an update list of 6 charges posed against him.
Mind you Oregon hasn't executed anyone for awhile now, so he might just receive consecutive life sentences.
Holt could avoid execution by talking to Christian Longo. Maybe he'll be in the same prison. See below:
http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/261598/christian-longos-latest-con-wesley-j-smith
After 10 years I decided to find out if he was still alive. This is the guy who strangled his wife and baby and threw his other two children into the bay (Oregon). This guy had absolutely no remorse. After the murders he flew to Cancun, posed as a news reporter, and shacking up with an unsuspecting German girl when the authorities came to arrest him. I bet she still has nightmares about this.
Now he's using his desire to help "save lives" by donating his organs--changing the law so that even prisoners can donate. Problem is--the process of execution actually makes the organs unfit. Well, you'll just have to read this article for more details.

JWS vs LDS
by tresdecu ini came across a mormon "sisters" blog...reading through some of her missionary experiences, it sounded so much like jw pioneer "sis" relating hers.
just swap out some of the cult-language words and it's suddenly a jw experience of sharing "bible truths" with some poor worldly sap.. here's an taste of it:.
1)we were also led by the spirit this week to a former investigator's home.

About 5 years ago I told a couple of LDS elders who stopped at our house that if I had to choose between JW and LDS, I would choose LDS. They thought they had a convert. I forgot to tell them that I had other choices--like choosing no religion at all. But they stopped to see us on a weekly basis for awhile and talked and prayed with Clyde and me. We were OK with it because we learned a lot about their religion, but then came the thrust to attend their church. That's when we stopped.
They must keep a file on us because every time they change their elders they come out specially to visit us. Last week Clyde and I sat on the front porch, and Clyde ended up doing most of the talking. I still see myself when I was their young age, pioneering, and I thought I had the absolute truth. No one could have convinced me otherwise, and there's no way to convince these two guys now.

do you remember the Last assembly you attended?
by crystlew123 ini dont remember the date.
or the year or if it was a district or circuit.
what i do remember is that we rode up with a car full of other female witnesses.
-
Bonnie_Clyde
The last assembly I attended (district) was all about "godly obedience" which really meant unwavering obedience to the elders. I think it was in 2005. Only reason I went was because of my father, and it was excruciating.

At one time I thought they explained that the 3-1/2 years that Jesus preached paralleled the time period between the fall of 1914 and the spring of 1918 - but I can't remember what happened in the spring of 1918--not visibly anyway unless there was an earth-shaking assembly somewhere.
