Do any of the 144,000 in heaven take part in the destruction at Armageddon?
by Bonnie_Clyde ini wondered about that when i heard garret loesch state that shortly before the tribulation the governing body would be taken up.
.
if this is the case, it seems like garret and the other seven would be there just in time to help out in the killing of billions.. i thought they used to say that some would survive armageddon before they were taken up..

Advanced Hearing Aid Technology for less than $200
by Bonnie_Clyde inhope i'm not out of line asking this question...just want to know if anyone has had any experience with this.. i just saw an ad in popular mechanics about "mdhearingaid".
it says it uses the same kind of technology that costs thousands more and is less than $200.
it's "high-quality fda-registered, is medical-grade offering sophistication and high performance, and works right out of the box.

The prices I've heard up till now are over $2,000, and I haven't felt that we could afford it. Clyde has needed one for quite awhile, and I might too.

This thread really hit home with me. When I pioneered it was 100 hours per month and 1200 hours per year...no allowance for vacation. I got married, and was pregnant with my first child. Tried my best to continue pioneering while working part-time, but we were down to one car, and my husband needed it for my work. Still, with help from other publishers, I managed to get a lot of hours in...probably 70 or 80. Back then, we reported all of our service directly to headquarters, so the 3rd month that I was behind I wrote a letter explaining my situation. I never heard back from them. But one mid-week meeting a letter was read from the platform that Bonnie was removed from the pioneer ranks. There was no mention of recognition for the 2-1/2 years I spent slaving for them. To top it off, a "special" pioneer sister who was visiting came up to me to tell me that in her home congregation there was a young married couple who had a baby, and they were both still pioneering. Fine example! I didn't know what to say.
Too bad that it took me over 30 years to leave.

Need WT article on being a homecoming queen
by Bonnie_Clyde ini remember an article many years ago...i think early 60's or even in the 50's.
it may have been questions from the readers.
i ask because our granddaughter has been selected to be on the homecoming court.
-
Bonnie_Clyde
Cha Ching - thank you for the article. Actually our granddaughter was elected to the homecoming court (it was almost unanimous). Maybe she'll make queen when she is a senior.
3rd Gen - I can't imagine how embarrassing that must have been for you. I often think of what I missed when I was in high school - wanted to sing in the choir or play in the orchestra but was worried about Christmas or patriotic songs. Never made it to a football game because they were on Friday nights, and our meetings were on Fridays back in those days. Didn't go to the senior prom either.

It really doesn't matter to us because her parents are no longer witnesses either, but wonder if the other grandparents who are still in will make a fuss. Clyde and I and her parents are very proud of her.

JW Elder fired from bank for privacy violation regarding fellow JW employee

"Clyde and I recently upgraded our Powers of Attorney and our Living Trust. We included a statement that we would accept a blood transfusion…only if was necessary to save our life. We found out later that the office administrator is a witness, and is married to an elder in the congregation that we used to attend…we still live in the territory. My last meeting was in 2006…Clyde’s last meeting was about 2001. What do you think the chances are that this woman will reveal our decision to the elders? Or have we been away long enough where they will leave us alone? I expressed my concern to the attorney, but she assured me that would not be a problem because the witness had signed a statement of confidentiality when she was hired. I know that witnesses are not good at privacy."
I think this would be a judicial matter if we were still active, but because we have been gone so long, maybe not. But I know that information like this can be leaked, and I certainly wouldn't want it to get back to our daughter. She would remember that several years ago I took a firm stand against a blood transfusion when I was having surgery. We are also still friendly with a few witnesses in the area.
I was surprised last week when I got a voicemail from my attorney that she just left the firm she was working for and going back where she used to work, and would we want to continue to use her services? I answered, of course, we would (we aren't finished yet)..then it occurred to me that her reason for leaving might have something to do with the JW employee. I'm afraid to ask.

I remember the article in the WT that MrRoboto mentioned. I think it was in the 1980’s. Hope someone will come up with it.

I read an article in the WT maybe 30 years ago that said that, when Jesus said "return your sword to it's place", that this was not referring to self-defense. I believe it even mentioned the scripture at Exodus 22:2: "If a thief should be found in the act of breaking I and he does get struck and die, there is no bloodguilt for him." How things have changed
