The picture in today's study of first century Christains preaching is a keeper.
It's less of a keeper than this classic:
i remember one picture of a pretty little girl holding a plastic bucket in paradise next to a tame lion.. i asked my wife if there is going to be polution in paradise?
of course the answer is no!!!!!..
i asked her where did the plastic bucket come from?

I asked him, "Who is going to make the tractor for you, because I sure ain't?
And will it run on fossil fuels or biofuels? Or solar energy? Or what?

Why do they put such store on the illustrations in the books? I can rember the phrase that "it is just an artist's impression of what it may be like". Now they seem to view them as an inspired window on the New World! Can they not accept that someone in the art dept. drew it or photo'd it that way using what he had. It is just a stupid picture , get over it!
*** w87 3/1 p. 15 pars. 18-19 ‘Upon the Watchtower I Am Standing’ ***
To this day the Governing Body follows similar guidelines. Each article in both The Watchtower and Awake! and every page, including the artwork, is scrutinized by selected members of the Governing Body before it is printed. Furthermore, those who assist in writing articles for The Watchtower are Christian elders who appreciate the seriousness of their assignment. (Compare 2 Chronicles 19:7.) They spend many hours in researching the Bible and other reference material to make sure that what is written is the truth and that it faithfully follows the Scriptures. (Ecclesiastes 12:9, 10; 2 Timothy 1:13) It is not unusual for one magazine article—that you may read in 15 minutes—to take from two weeks to over a month to prepare.
Therefore, you can read The Watchtower and Awake! with confidence. ...
If there is a plastic bucket in the 'paradise' picture, then you can be confident that it is scriptural truth that plastic buckets will exist in 'paradise.'
So now I would like to see this plastic bucket pic. Which publication and which page?
sometimes people make special connections to animals.
sometimes they bond very deeply and are real friends.
yesterday was the end of such a friendship that lasted ten wonderful years.
Oh my goodness, I am so sorry! It's bad enough when somebody else (a vet) has to do it. But to take it upon yourself? That not only takes a tremendous amount of guts but also a tremendous amount of love to carry it through.
i've been drinking 1 tbs with a glass of water twice daily for digestion for about 3 weeks now.
i've found it helps, but it also acts as an appetite suppressant; i've lost several pounds since using it.
i'm consuming fewer calories because i'm just not as hungry as before.
Interesting topic because I also know those who swear by cider vinegar's health benefits. But ...
And brush teeth after drinking because of the honey and the acidic properties of the vinegar.
While neutralizing the acid and sugar effects on your teeth is a good thing, this needs to be borne in mind ...
http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2014/01/dont-brush-eating-acidic-food.html
One caveat to brushing after you eat is if you’ve eaten an acidic food or drink – for example, orange juice. Avoid brushing your teeth for at least 30 minutes after acidic foods and beverages. These acids weaken tooth enamel, and brushing too soon can cause damage to the enamel.

Timing Your Teeth Brushing
When It May Be Better to Rinse and Wait ...
... Acid demineralizes and weakens the tooth surface, making it more prone to decay.
Scrubbing with a toothbrush can actually encourage the process, according to a study published in the journal General Dentistry in 2004. "When you want to make etched glass, you apply an acid or an abrasive and scratch it—that is what happens if you drink a sports drink or a soda, or even wine, and brush right after," says Dr. Cole. If you wait 30 minutes, however, "the saliva in your mouth will naturally bring the acid down to a more neutral pH and not rub acidic substances in."
in many places it is illegal to set up a stand and sell things in public without council approval.
so why is it that jws can set up their trolleys in busy public areas without being asked to move on?
i saw this article this morning about muslims being asked to stop handing out leaflets in parramatta, because it is illegal.
LOL@cofty. Love that movie.
Anyway, it all depends on the local authority. The official Org. instructions are,
4. Site permission and insurance coverage: In some public locations, permission may be needed from a manager or secular authority before setting up a literature display. The service overseer or someone else designated by the body of elders should determine what may be legally required, if anything, in the way of permissions, permits, and insurance coverage. Any application to use a mobile cart or to set up a table or kiosk to display literature must be filled out in the name of an individual publisher, not in the name of the congregation, any corporation used by the organization, or “Jehovah’s Witnesses.” If a small administrative fee is needed in order to acquire space in a public area, it is to be paid by the individual publisher, not the congregation. Publishers should carefully review any such applications to see what responsibility they are taking upon themselves with respect to liability. Publishers who apply to distribute literature at these areas are doing so on their own initiative as part of their personal ministry.

Also note who has liability.
long time lurker, first time poster here finally looking to get some things off my chest.
i've always been a very curious person with tons of questions about everything, and i also care deeply particularly about societal issues like social injustice, racism, and homophobia.
that, coupled with how boneheaded all the elders in my congregation are (except for one), led me to ask even more questions that led me to find ttatt.. .
Welcome, Letts Party! Inspired by your name and being in an impish mood, I made this:
i visited the jehovah's witness report website today.
i read the following article:.
on october 1st 2014, barbara anderson will join in and participate in the launch of a new website ad1914.com.
... this website is different in that it not only exposes the 1914 error, but celebrates the lives of people who exposed the Watchtower by telling the truth during that century of lies no matter what the cost was to them personally and to their family.
The website creators want to preserve the names and history of these truth-tellers for posterity.
It's a brilliant idea! I can't wait to see it.
saw my parents yesterday, and i brought up the subject of the jw.org signs with my mother.
her response blew me away.
"this is getting stupid".. what?
lurkers.... check your calendars... october 2, 2014 is only 500 days away.... look for illogical nu-lite from the wt in publications and conventions that will attempt to explain this away.. they've already bought themselves some time by splitting a "generation" into 2 overlapping generations... still, they have a lot of explaining to do... this should get really interesting... stay tuned.... .
Heh - I wonder good ol' Lars is going to do to mark the 20th anniversary of his anointing as Messiah? Maybe a Diana Ross tribute concert in front of the "holy dumpster"?
'Is going to'? The 20th anniversary was nearly 2 years ago. You missed the party LOL.
