My dub aunt thinks Obama is mentioned in the bible.
by Jehovah lol inshe's not even american and doesn't live in the usa so it's not even her area of political awareness really.
she seems convinced that obama is the prophesied wolf in sheep's clothing mentioned in revelation.. it's unusual for non-us dubs to hold the weirder beliefs, so this is a new one for me.
she also said that the end is very close now and that things are a foot with north korea; it's clearly the king of the north.. she said exactly the same thing 5 years ago about china, and exactly the same thing 10 years ago about iraq.. derp derp..

I think North Korea is evidently the 'king of the north' because both are baddies and both have 'north' as part of their description. -

Site issues: Dec 27 Update
by Simon inhere's the current status:.
performance improvements have been made to make things slicker.. the "remember me" issue should now be fixed.. sign-in captcha can be affected by ad-blockers so consider disabling those.. sign-in email is case-sensitive - until i update this consider using your forum username instead.. ie stalls on "queued for processing" when posting a topic or reply but the post has been made (just navigate to active or refresh the topic if replying).. i will be working through issues today and contacting anyone who had sign-in issues to check if they still have problems.. many thanks again for your patience while we work through these teething problems..

I miss the old feature that, for each post, showed the post # out of total posts - for example, post #365 of 399. Could that be added here?
Actually, Magnum, some kind of post numbering system would be very useful in keeping track of responses in a thread - especially a lively, busy one - and navigating/cross-referencing between other threads and posts.
If you, Simon, do not want to reintroduce the dates on posts, a post numbering system will be vital. Both dates and numbering would be helpful, though. It isn't always practical to quote every bit of text you're replying to and it would be handy to say which post is being referred to..
For instance, which is easier?
"Regarding Simon's post he made approximately 9 hours before this one on this thread - the one 10 posts down on the first page (or 5 posts down on the 2nd page if your page is set to 5 posts per page) ...."
Or,
"Regarding Simon's post #10 ...."
---
Regarding some of the reasons I think reintroducing dates are important. See THIS THREAD and a comment I made approximately 2 days previous to this post, 14 posts down on the first page (using the 20 posts per page setup).
---
It makes it a lot harder navigating through this massive site without a numbering (or dating) system in place. If individual posts could be hyperlinked to as well - even better!

I have a question about a quote from Ray Franz
by Truth and Justice inhi to the group!.
i have a question about a quote that ray franz made, and i am quoting him, his quote is as follows: page 283 of "crisis of conscience" top of the page:.
fred was saying - in his comments, he stated that some were questioning the society's position (set forth in a recent watchtower) that jesus christ is the mediator only for the "anointed" ones and not for the other millions of jehovah's witnesses.

My question is do they still believe this way?
It hasn't been rescinded.
*** w79 4/1 p. 31 Questions From Readers ***
● Is Jesus the “mediator” only for anointed Christians?
... At a time when God was selecting those to be taken into that new covenant, the apostle Paul wrote that Christ was the “one mediator between God and men.” (1 Tim. 2:5) Reasonably Paul was here using the word “mediator” in the same way he did the other five times, which occurred before the writing of 1 Timothy 2:5, referring to those then being taken into the new covenant for which Christ is “mediator.” So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the “mediator” only for anointed Christians.
*** w89 12/15 p. 30 Do You Remember? ***
In what sense does Paul use the term “mediator” when referring to Jesus at 1 Timothy 2:5, 6?
In this text, Paul uses the Greek word me·si′tes for “mediator,” which term has a legal significance, so he is not using this word in the broad sense common in many languages. Hence, Paul is not saying that Jesus is Mediator between God and all mankind. Rather, he is referring to Christ as legal Mediator of the new covenant, which laid the basis for Christ’s anointed followers to share with him in his heavenly Kingdom. (2 Corinthians 5:1, 5; Ephesians 1:13, 14; Hebrews 8:7-13)—8/15, pages 30, 31.*** w08 12/15 pp. 13-14 pars. 12-14 Appreciate Jesus’ Unique Role in God’s Purpose ***
The original-language word translated “mediator” is a legal term. It refers to Jesus as a legal Mediator (or, in a sense, an attorney) of the new covenant that made possible the birth of a new nation, “the Israel of God.” (Gal. 6:16) This nation is composed of spirit-anointed Christians, who form a heavenly “royal priesthood.” (1 Pet. 2:9; Ex. 19:6) The Law covenant, with Moses as mediator, was not able to produce a nation like that.
[...]
What about those who are not in the new covenant, those who hope to live forever on earth, not in heaven? While not participants in the new covenant, these are beneficiaries of it. They receive forgiveness of their sins and are declared righteous as God’s friends. (Jas. 2:23; 1 John 2:1, 2) Whether we have a heavenly hope or an earthly hope, each one of us has good reason to appreciate Jesus’ role as the Mediator of the new covenant. -

Christmas Beliefs!
by J-DUBBED indo jehova wingnuts believe jesus birthday isn't dec 25?
or do they just plain and simple not believe in any birthday?.
-

One of the possible reasons why December 25th was chosen as Christ's birth was that some early Christians thought Jesus was conceived on March 25th - March, Spring, new life, God created the world then, day of a prophet's conception would be the day of his death (Jesus' conception day = his crucifixion day) - all sorts of symbolisms. -

Really? The fact that someone joined on April twenty fifth and not April twenty third is relevant how?
Even a month would help. How is a specific date relevant, you ask.
- Our journeys and posting histories are marked by the passage of time; by specific events in Watchtowerland and in our lives - a bit like having a date stamp on your photos, or by marking birthdays and anniversaries on a particular day. It's nice to note the day rather than the approximate month or year.
- Specific dates provide context to what was said and why it was said; sometimes even to what prompted someone to join; whether the person joined and then left it a few weeks before plucking up the courage to post. All valuable little insights into what makes somebody tick.
- Dates indicate how lively and intense a debate was.
- Our memories fade. Dates help in locating past posts and threads among the thousands on here. E.g. If there's a thread or post I'm looking for from '10 years ago' and there are so many hundreds of threads and thousands of posts from '10 years ago,' I could locate it faster if it was narrowed down to month or day, or if I knew it was from around the time of a convention, an AGM, a noteworthy news event, or a crazy WT article being published.

i've only had chance to test with ie 11 but it should work with ie 10 as well, i'm not sure about ie 9 and ie 8 or older is doubtful.. fingers crossed we get some replies from ie'ers.
note: there may still be other issues but the first and biggest hurdle is getting signed on..

there is no chance of attempting to sign in using Opera mini.
Same here. No menu for signing in is available, nor 'Search,' nor any button on the top toolbar. Nor can I opt to cut out the thread previews like on a computer (Chrome). My phone's on Opera Mini 8 now (I had mistakenly said '5' on the other thread).
With JWN and Opera Mini 4, I could sign in and see all the sections. I couldn't post, but at least I could easily browse and read.
