I asked them to add me to the Do NOt Call List. I had to ask them twice, and I was kind of short with them the second time. I knew they wanted to get into it with me, but I cut them off and closed the door. I don't want to argue, and if I invited them in I'd be too tempted to do or say something I'd regret.

JW emotional probs and Borderline Personality Disorder

i have seen many posts here about addiction psychology and its relationsship to jw's.

this is an interesting area... and i tend to be a bit sceptical simply due to the "trendyness" that addiction psych is experiencing.

i personally see links to low-intensity borderline personality disorder (high-intensity seems to lead to self-mutilation and suicide attempts, the latter of which we have all heard about).

beryl: thank you for having the courage to talk about your disorder. I was diagnosed w/ BPD a few years ago. I also struggled with an eating disorder in the Borg, and my arms are also scarred with slashes, cigarette burns, etc.

I had always dismissed BPD as a "wastebasket diagnosis" for neurotic women who didn't fit in anywhere else. After reading Jerry Bergman's book, "Jehovah's Witnessses and the problem of Mental Illness" I realized how personality disorders can develop, an the JW environment is a key contributing factor.

"chaps my grits" is a southern colloquialism, referring.

to.....well, i guess you better know what grits is.

I'm so tired (vent)

i guess i just need to vent a little, so i hope you don't mind me coming here.

some of you know i started a new job this past march with a pharmaceutical company.

it's just a temporary position with the schedule having me become permanent in december.

((Billygoat)) Treat yourself to a massage or pedicure. it will help with the tension. It's like having an oasis in the middle of a busy day, even if only for 30-60 minutes.

I worked for a ~~drug pusher~~ Pharm. company in San Fran, and you're right, it is burn out work. I worked my A$$ off for two years! so much bureaucracy and paperwork. At least the money was good.

"Jehovah" in the New Testament

i just got a return visit from a couple of jw that visited me last month.

all was very nice and friendly.

i have inadvertantly agreed to a study of sorts and figure it might be an interesting challenge for me to try out my newfound knowledge/information with them.

Room215, Yes, it seems presumptuous to use god's first name. the JWs call each other Brother and Sister, and have titles for various positions with in the bOrg, but don't use titles for God.

the name "Jehovah" is like a mantra for the JWs. with an almost magical quality (e.g. warding off demons).

As a young JW i got so sick of hearing what a byoooo-tee-ful name it was. Some bros. would be really passionate when they said it: "Jee-HOOO-vah." Almost like they were moaning or taking a dump.

Let me change my quoted sentence to "I don't think it is an unwritten rule for elders to tell a sister to stay with an abusive husband."

This sounds like a pointless circular argument. It's pretty hard to challenge an unwritten rule. Believe whatever you want amac, don't let facts, experience and logic affect your thinking.

I didn't get the job

i have been doing contract work for about four years now and i have been trying to get a permanent position for well over a year.

last week i did an interview for a job that would have been perfect.

it was even very close to where i live... within a five minute drive.. this morning i got feedback and they really liked me, but decided to go with another candidate.

((((Elsewhere))))) I know how you're feeling, i've been outa work for over a year. My job was sent overseas "to save money." Yeah, right, they spent thousands upgrading their system so they could send work to a 3rd world cesspool. Grrrr.

It's a hard struggle. It sounds like you had a good interview tho, so they may keep you in mind for another position. Don't beat yourself up, you gave it your best shot.
