So I go to my first day of work.....

and behind the front desk, i see someone who looks familiar.. only when she turns and looks at me do i realize she is a witness i know.. so the lady who did my bible study, it's her daughter that is working with me.

i just find it funny...you just can't run and you definitely can't hide from these people!.

missy, im sorry you are having a tough time. Just remember that in a few weeks, it will all come second nature to you. I know that does not help you right now, but the point is that learning this job will come to you, it normally takes a person 2 weeks to learn a new job, plus you have not been given that much time to learn your job. Just hang in there sweetie, i know its hard. I have changed jobs a few times, and it is always overwhelming.
Dont be afraid to speak up and make sure that the other girl knows that she does not intimidate you, even if you are not intimidated, she might be trying to.
I dont know if i made sense, but all in all, i know you will be good at this job, you have such a sweet personality that shines through on this board.

from time to time some of you post letters/emails, etc that you receive from family/friends urging you to come back to the "truth", jehovah, whatever.

even though the intentions of the sender is misguided, it is apparent that they must have some affection or feeling for you to bother to send the letter.

others get no letters, no calls, no inquiries.

hmmm, that is a difficult question. I suppose it would be better to know that you are not forgotton and that people that are out there thinking of you, rather than always wondering if you were ever loved.
Yes, i think its better to be thought of (even if it is with witness literature and letters) than to not be thought of at all.
It wont make one feel so alone in the world.

Just my take on it. I have been out of the org for over 5 years now, and not one elder to call or come to see how i was doing.

ok, this is actually dave posting for gina.

her mom called her this morning (the day after we told her we were going to be df'd soon) and said she wants to see everything gina's done research on.

she wants to see ray franz's books, the whole shmeer.

wow gina, that is wonderful news. i cant wait to hear how this develops, i know how difficult it can be to try and talk to your parents about something this complex and hoping they will listen. I am sure you will be hearing from them soon, as you probably did put some doubt in their minds,hopefully they will read through it all and take it to heart. You should be so proud of yourself for having the strength to go through with this.

I am really hoping it all goes well for you. I am a little nervous for you guys and cant wait to hear the outcome. I am always hopeful that my mom and dad will approch me with questions and wanting information. At least if they dont accept it right away, it might plant a little seed of doubt that will eat away at them over time.

Jehovah the God Of Tupperware

saw an interesting show on tv a few weeks ago: the history of the tupperware firm.

amazing program.

anyway it struck me that i could have been watching a tv show on the history of the watchtower.

I guess the biggest difference between the WTS and and Tupperware is: One's an organisation full of salesmen and saleswomen selling a plastic product of no real worth to anyone but making mega-millions in the process, and the other one is Tupperware.

That is so funny!!!!

I know what you mean, i almost got sucked into selling those candles and doing parties, until i found out what it was all about. I was just on my way out of the bOrg at the time so i was not ready to commit to something else.
Goes to show the wts uses the same concepts as do all those other companies trying to make a buck.

physical discipline

anybody's jw parents ever use that "don't spare the rod" song and dance as an excuse to beat the living shit out of you?

my parents used to relish in the whole physical punishment thing.

i guess the question i'm trying to get at is, do you think wts promotes and encourages physical violence in the home?

Yes, the Big wooden spoon, that was my mom. If we even moved an inch in our chair at the kingdumb hall, she would just show us the spoon as a warning. If we misbehaved, you better beleive we got it, and had the welts to prove it. My mother stopped using the hairbrush when she broke it on my sisters behind. Of course, my dad was the worst with the big thick leather belt. Of course if he couldnt find that, he would knock us over the head with his knuckles, or give us a good smack.

When i had my son, the few meetings i took him to, my mother litterally bullied me into taking him to the bathroom to spank him. It was horrible, that was the last time i went the the meeting, it felt so wrong. I mean, he was only 1 at the time, who makes a 1 year old sit for 2 hours, its ridiculous!!!

I am so glad that is over, i am stopping that cycle with my son, now at 3 years old he gets time out's and that seems to work just fine.

mum took this picture in the summer (she loves to photograph flowers, mushrooms and insects) and this one really shocked us - look at the head of the moth!

to us it looks like a little human head!

very strange.

As a young kid how did you invision Armagedon?

as a kid i felt that jehovah would bring his big hand down from the sky and slap the hell out of the ground, and if i was under it then it would be real bad.

the fact is i found it hard to camp outside and enjoy looking at the night sky with all of its stars, fearing the big old hand was going to slap the area around me at that very moment and ruin trees shrubs the fish we had caught our tent my dads truck, and us oh man everthing else too.

Oh my gosh, i havent thought about this for so long, and when i read your post it brought back some memories.

I had a very active imagination as a kid, i always thought when Armegeddon was gonna come that gods hand would reach down and unzip the earth that we knew, and a whole new clean world would appear under it and everyone that was suppose to survive would jump on, and everyone else would be left on the old world and just dropped away into the universe. I was probably around 6 when i came up with that. Its unbeleivable that a 6 year old would have thoughts like those instead of just a normal 6 year old.

Ok, i was a wacky kid!!! LOL
