  JW's on a Saturday morning.

  today on my morning run i saw two sets of jw's going door to door on boston st. one set was two ladies and the other was two guys.

  after i has passed them up on the sidewalk i turned around and began walking towards them.

  the ladies turned to go up to another home just before i got to them but the guys were still approaching.

  The diagram is interesting because it mixes actual/physical times w/ symbolic times.

  If you're going to mix them, you can technically prove just about anything. They are saying that the 3.5 years (42 months/1,260 days) is literal but the 3.5 days is figurative/symbolic ("antitypical", heh heh).

  What I would like to see is some scriptural proof of their position. This doesn't add-up, arithmetically. However, I can imagine peeps at the meeting, nodding their collective heads in assured affirmation.

  i was talking to an ex-bethelite who was at the 'big house' in the late 60s and early 70s and he mentioned that daniel sydlik was exiled (asked to leave bethel) for a couple years when he married his wife (who at the time was very young and very much his junior).

  according to this ex-bethelite, his marriage was somewhat controversial and they didn't want it to stumble anyone at the time, so he still stayed in the nyc area, but just not in bethel?

  of course, this was when they had the corporation director format and before they officially adopted the governing body structure.

  Demon attacks on JW in past, where'd they go?

  in the 80's and 90's (maybe even earlier) i remember hearing lots of witnesses talk about "demon attacks".

  whether it was someone studying the bible who then started having strange things happen in their house to people bringing stuff home from yard sales and getting personal attacks and horrible dreams resulting in them dystroying stuff they brought home or getting rid of it.. .

  i also remember hearing a sister say she had to pray in a home with a study because the study started to get attacked.

  There was a similar rumor floating around in the late 70's.

  The story floating around So-Cal was that Jeane Dixon claimed she was short on predictions because the spirits indicated to her that they were; "too busy working on the families of Jehovah's Witnesses".

  I don't know how these rumors get started. The Smurf thing as well. I lived in Seattle in the early 80's and there was a story making the rounds about someone going into their kid's room and the child's Smurfs were dancing around on their own. These stories become more detailed and fantastic with each retelling.

  Pure, unadulterated BS.

  Someone else posted a Smurf story in another thread. I hadn't heard that one before and it was even more bizarre.

  ive pasted the following from a uk xjw facebook page.:.

  i found out last night that thursday,just gone, a member of the gb came to rosehill congregation in bolton to tell them the gb will now be more active and a more prominent part of their lives, this is to build trust and make it so when they revel new direction in the future, people don't push against them and they follow them.

  it's a long shot shot but what are the chances he will be at any other meeting in this district this sunday and how can i find out?.

  i think you'll find this interesting and also disconcerting as well.. to all bodies of elders.

  For such a "secret" book it sure is readily available.

  It would probably be easier for the Elders to just torrent it off of thepiratebay and email the PDF to Kinko's and have it spiral bound on the fly.

  Am I correct to assume that this book is already obsolete? At least Chapter 3; "Appointment and Deletion of Elders and Ministerial Servants"?
