I don't know about the rest of us but this stuff comes off to me as a bit bizarre. This is such a departure from what I grew up with that it's unrecognizable. The fact is, they should indeed change the name because it's completely different. When I went door-to-door (and mind you I Pioneered myself - big deal), I pretty much stuck to "arguing" directly from the bible. I would offer mags or books (depending on what we were campaigning) but I wouldn't use them as reference for discussion. I used the bible. Fred Franz' doctrines could be convincingly argued to even the most competent amateurs, if you could lead them down the right path of illogical/logic.
I can recall my late grandfather, he was a former "Bethelite" that "partook" until the early fifties when he "decided" he wasn't of the heavenly calling, studying for hours every day. Pouring over his concordances and bible translations in an attempt to fully assimilate the deep-teachings of Franz. My grandmother studied the "Harp of God" during her initiation into the Org.
The two of them knew the old doctrines inside-out and I learned from them. What I believe is sad for so many of us is the time wasted. It was akin to learning to make really fine buggy-whips (I know, they're still in use in some circles but not for driving horses - but maybe "Ponies") or button-hooks. Obsolete knowledge? Actually, the analogy isn't very good because buggy-whips had a legitimate use. This knowledge was spurious/apocryphal.

I pioneered when I was a kid and back then it was called "Vacation Pioneering" and it was something like 75 or 80 hours (I forget). Then they changed the title to "Temporary Pioneer" and started dropping the hours for both Temporary and Regular.

Funny you should mention the Paradise Book. That illustration of one of Pharaoh's soldiers that you can see being inundated by a breaking wave looked (at least to my eye) like my dad. Used to scare me that he was going to drown.
I recall reciting the books of the Bible at the book study in 1965 or so.
So much time spent (wasted) learning and pouring over publications and doctrine that has now been repudiated. Repeatedly studying the old Babylon Book (and Hyslop) and learning/retaining the deep, spurious teachings.
What, exactly, was the point?
I spoke w/ my 74 y.o. mother a few weeks ago (she's an avid meeting/service attendee) and she kept saying: "the Faithful and Discreet Slave this" and "the Faithful and Discreet Slave that" and how they're; "giving us our food at the proper time".
So delusional it made me sick. My Dad goes to meetings w/ her but he obviously has questions himself. Pushing 90 he's probably thinking about how close he is to learning the "Grand Secret".
i am not sure how you all feel as we all left at different times for different reasons.... but this new bible seems to have put some final nails into a coffin that was once my jw life.
the religion is so far and so different to the religion i grew up in that it has become something i feel no affiliation with anymore, no bond, no shared ideas or even sentimental views.

Well, you had to give it to Fred Franz. At least his writings were extravagently detailed enough to invoke a kernel of awe. This current crop is confused and comparatively simplistic.
At least in the Franz era, we had some meat (albeit TVP that was flavored to taste sort of like meat).

Geez Louise, they're changing stuff so often/fast that it would be a wonder that anyone could keep up. I can imagine the conversations; "oh no Brother, that's what we believed week before last, the new teaching is 'yadda yadda'". And then someone else will say; "wait, I believe that was changed at last night's Service Meeting".
