Oh how this religion has changed! Would this have been permitted 20 years ago??
by stuckinarut2 inhttps://m.facebook.com/100002613343180/posts/2271710659592690?sfns=mo.
would the old-timers even recognise this religion anymore?.
this is from one of the international conventions held this year.

"Does your political party agree with religions being tax-exempt?"
by stuckinarut2 inin australia, we have a federal election this weekend for a new prime minister and parliament.. i took the opportunity yesterday to do some "anti-witnessing" when at the polling station.. as i was walking in, i had representatives from all the parties all vying for my vote and thrusting their promotional "how to vote" papers into my hands.. so while i had 5 of them all around me, i politely asked if i could ask their party's view on a very important topic: "what is your party's view on whether religions should be tax-exempt?
do they qualify for such a 'charity status' if they dont actually do any community work or social outreach programs?".
some were unsure, some were quick to say "all religions do good", and some were keen to say that they should only have this tax-free status if they can prove their charity work.. then one asked the perfect question (now with a small group all listening in) "is there a group that concerns you?

Activism ideas for our local communities
by stuckinarut2 ini have been thinking of dignified ways to raise awareness about the toxicity of the jw religion in my local community.. so, yesterday, i phoned my local council head office to query the carts that are set up in several places in our town.. i was very polite and professional, and asked the council clerk if they were aware that a religious cult sets up its propaganda stands on council property near families and children on a regular basis.. i said:.
"while i am sure they may be very nice people, the group they represent teaches things that appear to me to be in direct conflict with the values and ethics of our local community and council.".
"their initial message seems pleasant, but i know for example, they are a very misogynistic and homophobic group.

The "Food Truck" analogy
by stuckinarut2 ini was pondering the way the society condemns anyone who looks for "spiritual food" outside of their approved channel.
as we know, jws are only to go to the approved website, and research material.. this illustration came to mind.. lets say we have a 5star fancy restaurant, and a new clean food truck.
both kitchens prepare a meal.. if the food is simply assessed on its own merit, and the source of its production is ignored, it can be deemed as healthy, safe, nutritious and tasty.
