Oh and yes, just try reading the bible without any bias material from the society! It's amazing how many things become apparent. I was left feeling embarrassed as I recalled the way I used to defend the society....🙄😩

Yes! Dumbing down indeed....
It really seemed to reach a crescendo around 2012 when the Zone Visit was broadcast worldwide, and the new bible was released.
Since then the online products have just become like junk food...temporarily filling, yet lacking in any real substance.
And don't get me started on the dumbing down of the songs and song book.....

Have any ex-jws considered joining the Bible Students?
by Rainbow_Troll intheir fundamental beliefs are much like jehovah's witnesses sans the paranoia, authoritarianism, stifling rules, and end-times enthusiasm.
you don't even have to become a bible student to be saved, you could be an idol worshipping heathen and still get resurrected in the milenium.
if i still believed in the divine inspiration of the scriptures, i would be a bible student.

If they still agree with all the wacky ideas about the pyramid measurements...then NO!
Why leave one wacky religion for another wacky one....

Showing Kindness To Strangers
by FedUpJW ini feel pretty foolish after reading the drivel in today's wt.
here i was operating under the impression that showing kindness to strangers was something that one did unselfishly.
boy was i wrong!

And this article openly admits to the typical cult-like behaviour of "love-bombing" newly interested ones. They don't even try and hide this tactic.
Be "kind" to such ones, in the hope that the odd doctrines are not focussed on....

Well said ToesUp! We have had the same experiences.
Yes, the Witness "Kindness" is a CONDITIONAL kindness...shown ONLY to those who become clones of the societies stereotype.
There is NO ongoing "Kindness" shown to anyone who does not conform.

by dropoffyourkeylee inat a 3-day convention in nairobi, kenya this week 12-2-16 through 12-4-16, they had 70,000+ attendance, and there were 792 baptized (i presume the baptism was yesterday).
i was amazed to hear this; i guess now we know where the wt's growth is coming from..

Sadly, this sums up the people who are attracted to the society. Poorly educated, from superstitious backgrounds, living in downtrodden countries that lack transparency about organizations...
If it provides peace of mind to those people - good on them.

...Technically the congregation owns it...
by Esse quam videri ini was talking to one of my customers about the newly replaced kingdom hall on westminster highway in richmond, b.c.
she does not know i used to be a witness.
she was telling me how the labour is all donated and they only pay for the materials.

The new worldwide arrangement that came in a few years back is that NO individual congregation owns a hall.
The titles are held and owned by the local branch offices.
The branch took on the debt if any was remaining and "forgave the loan" to the individual congregation. But if that cong had paid off their loan already, it didnt matter. ALL congregations must pay a monthly fee regardless of whether their hall was paid off or not.
It is like having your mortgage paid off, and yet having to still pay off a loan forever anyway!

Inspired - Other words and phrases used by Watchtower.
by pleaseresearch inthis was a brilliant video by bridget azaz.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vg0ftmjknvg.
what other words and phrases does the watchtower use instead of inspired, but basically meaning the same thing.. as we all know watchtower are masters at semantics and have done great in making its members follow them as if they were inspired..

I LOVE the name of the "ailment" you were suffering: "CHRONIC APATHY"
I think that is catching amongst many witnesses! And there is no cure.......

Wow!
That is awful!
It is time they were reminded (perhaps with the help of a legal team) of "appropriate boundaries", and "defamation" laws!
You need to fight such stupidity with proper legal means.
