Eagerly anticipating the death of billions!

surely someone who eagerly looks forward to the death of billions of people (including babies and children) is not emotionally healthy?.

yet, that is the key belief "happily" anticipated by witnesses.... food for thought?.

It still amazes me that witnesses can somehow do the mental gymnastics to let themselves actually happily look forward to seeing BILLIONS of people killed!

Also, seriously, why do they get so upset when some sort of tragedy strikes that kills people? After all, those that die get a resurrection right? So it is actually a GOOD thing if people die in some disaster according to witness ideas??

The sick twisted mindset that allows witnesses to think it is OK for mass genocide is truly disturbing!

one of the most persistent arguments for belief in god centres on the necessity of an ultimate law-giver and epitome of goodness.. a softer version is seen in the genuine concern that a loss of faith will result in a corresponding loss of a moral compass - a more strident argument links the existence of good and evil with proof of the reality of god.

it is often asserted that without god, moral decisions degenerate to nothing more than personal preferences and the victory of "might is right".. i want to succinctly lay out my response as an atheist, and show that a supreme being is not required for objective morality.. it is helpful to distinguish between absolute morality, objective morality and subjective morality.

christian apologists frequently conflate the first two, and secular debaters often fail to point out the difference.. theists who disagree on everything else, are unanimous that god is perfectly good.

Yes, just because one doesn't subscribe to a "faith" or "divine deity" does not mean that one becomes evil, or "immoral".

I saw a great quote once (sorry cant remember who said it) "I don't believe in a loving divine being BECAUSE I have read the bible"

If "the Truth" is the truth, why are witnesses so scared of research?

it is an often asked question i know, but it perplexes me.. if witnesses are so convinced that they have "the truth", why is the act of researching information from external sources so taboo?

didn't the bible itself tell people to "use their powers of reason" and also praised ones like the boreans for researching things they were told??.

seriously, if there is no doubt about the organization being "god's channel" on earth, and it alone having the "truth", surely researching would only enhance such 'facts'?.

gorby went to the kh for family reasons today.. and landed right away middle in a pseudo history watchtower article.

just that aspect of the jw belief he is so sensative about.. so 1918 and 1919 are changed with one mark of a pencil.

the argument of change was in the past the argument of the doctrine.

i realize that wt has got a wind fall of cash through various means.

so my question is in the greater scheme of things is it really that much.

for example let's say with all their real estate and cash on hand they are worth about $20 billion dollars.

It always amazed me that God must have made mistakes in the "creation" process of humans...

Jehovah: "Ah, an appendix? Just a wasted organ of no use: throw it away. Ah, a foreskin? No need for that! In fact it is WRONG to have it...oops I made another design mistake: Cut it off!"
