it's funny as i reflect back on my days as a witness during the watchtower study.

it seems like no matter what the question asked.

it was like parrots squawking back exactly what they had just heard with absolutely no thought or even the slightest expression of free will.

Yes, great thread.

There is NO tolerance of any 'extra' information being presented during a WT study. If someone does research and tries to present it, that one is made to feel awkward.

The only acceptable answer is a repeated comment (in "your own words") of the same stuff that was just read out!

When we really think about it, it is a huge waste of time! It could be read at home!

BUT the beauty of it is the "group bias" that it creates, as witnesses see and hear a large number of people around them "agree" with the presented information...thus making it seem more valid

At what point were you taught about disfellowshipping? What page in the current study book is it covered?

reading john cedars book and the section about when the more crazy shit gets introduced to you is very telling.

Yes, the org has masterfully and manipulatively made it seem that only "WICKED SINNERS" would ever require DFing.

The facts are that many, if not most leave because they simply wake up to the TRUTH about the society.

They don't become evil sinners at all

"Overlapping Generation" is a "Spiritual Generation" - a letter to the governing body

could you please introduce the phrase "spiritual generation" to replace the phrase "overlapping generation".

I saw a sister post apicture on Instagram proudly showing "four generations" of family "in the truth" (grandparents, children, great grandchildren....)

I was SO tempted to add a comment : "dont you mean ONE OVERLAPPING generation?"

when the arc made their recommendations to the society last year i genuinely thought we'd see some real changes.

oh sure, i expected a lot of feet dragging, double talk, and general nonsense - but at the end of the day i was certain the society would do what they legally had to and then run around claiming:.

Yes, very sad.

As much as I loathe the organisation, I didn't think they would be so stupid and conduct themselves in such an antagonistic and evasive manner.

However the level of contempt they have shown is proof that they truely need to be brought to task.

I sincerely hope that they face tangible, punitive punishment!

Finished Mystery (1917)... The book that Jesus approved...

so a few months ago, a friend sent me an actual copy of finished mystery which was published in 1917 (not a pdf download... the actual book).

i must say, this was the most disturbing book i have ever had the displeasure of reading.

but i only read it because this was the main publication that was being distributed worldwide when jesus supposedly chose the watchtower in 1918 and i basically wanted to see for myself what jesus saw in the wt that would compel him to choose this religious corporation over all other religious denominations.. anyway, if anyone is interested in knowing the actual contents of this book, here are some bullet points i put together from some of the notes i took as i read the book:.

Annoyingly, the hall we used to attend threw out all the old books! I was so amazed that they would try and throw away such "theocratic history". I kept the book and read it cover to cover before returning it.

To think that anyone thought that this was "gods channel" is simply mind blowing!

no doubt we have all heard that well used "illustration" in public talks etc over the years:.

"if you were handed a glass of water that looked pure, but were told it has just a tiny drop of poison in it, would you drink it?".

the society has used that illustration at length to say we should avoid all influences of every part of the world.. but, as we know, the society has had a track record of errors, false ideas and doctrines.

The way that the society has handled the Australian Royal Commission is proof of the "poison in the water"!

It doesn't matter WHAT they teach or claim about anything, if they are acting so disgracefully during these proceedings!!

someone suggested i would address a letter not only to mr. angus stewart, but also to the royal commission as well.

it merges the two subjects on the same letter (inactive status and shunning; two witness rule), and adds some things more that what i said to mr. stewart.

Perhaps add information about the videos shown during the 2016 convention series. The one about "Kevin" the inactive one, and the one about parents shunning their daughter's phone call?
