Is Stephen Lett an alien imitation?
by LoveUniHateExams ini've been watching quite a bit of gb member stephen lett on youtube recently (no, i'm not thinking of going back to the jws).. i just find him compulsive viewing, like when people slow down to see a car crash.
i find his facial expressions and intonation spell-binding.. it reminds me a bit of john carpenter's the thing, a film where an alien life-form infects a host and imitates it, spreading throughout camps of remote workers in the antarctic.
if i were a bethelite living in close proximity to lett, i'd be thinking about giving him the blood test to see if he was normal, lol.. why does lett speak in public the way he does?

I asked a good friend of mine (not a witness) to watch the March broadcast. I sent him the link.
He texted me throughout it.
The first text was "WTF? Is this for real, or a parody?"
The next text was "Have you watched Forest Gump? This guy reminds me of him"
Then he sent me a video of a Dutch musical group made up of people with intellectual difficulties....which he said Lett reminded him of.

Is ignorance an excuse?
by stuckinarut2 ini have always maintained that i hold nothing personally against individual witnesses, even those that have actively slandered our name and reputation based on the actions of some individuals.. i have often said that all these ones, (even the ones spreading gossip), are victims of the culture of the organization, and the directions of the gb.. but recently i have been rethinking this, and wonder if ignorance is really an acceptable excuse?.
i mean, with so much information now readily available about the society, its origins, its scandals, issues and conduct, is it simply ok for a witness to remain wilfully ignorant about the organization that dictates every aspect of their lives?.
is ignorance an excuse?.

The real question is WHY ALL THE SECRECY?
The society is showing itself up as a high control cult by the very nature of such "secret letters".
The excuse used by the brothers at the ARC that these documents as "audience appropriate" simply doesn't cut it!

My older brother has stopped his bible study
by pale.emperor ingood news people.
my older brother has abruptly stopped his bible study with the witnesses.
he was part-time shunning me during his study and his behavior was beginning to change into cult mode but he was thankfully woken up.

It seems that many witnesses simply dont care about facts?
by stuckinarut2 ini often wonder if the current crop of witnesses, especially the youth and younger ones simply don't care about facts?.
i mean for some, even with knowledge of the past scandals, misleading teachings, mistruths, etc etc, they simply don't care.
"it is the truth after all".. they are so intertwined in the operations and activities of the society, that they cant see anything outside of it.

I mean for some, even with knowledge of the past scandals, misleading teachings, mistruths, etc etc, they simply don't care. "It is the TRUTH after all".
They are so intertwined in the operations and activities of the society, that they cant see anything outside of it. They are being fulfilled emotionally by the involvement, that they cant entertain anything except that life.
It seems that the level of attachment goes far beyond logical facts.
It is no different to people who passionately follow a sporting team. They loyally back them despite the times when the team is doing really badly, or is having issues or scandals with their management or players. My team (or country) Right or Wrong.
Facts simply don't make a difference unless they CHOOSE to open their minds.

Were You Ever A True Believer?
by minimus ini was raised in the religion and for the most part believed that my religion was truth.
i recognized some mistakes were occasionally made but felt that nobody is perfect.
then i smartened up and realized how dumb so many of the beliefs are....was there ever a time that you truly believed you had the "truth"?.

I was raised in "the truth".
It was "the truth" simply because it was "the truth"... Circular reasoning at its finest...
Anything I didn't understand was either my fault, or I was not spiritual enough to get it.
As for other topics that were not clear, "wait on Jehovah to explain in Due time" was the standard response...and I was satisfied with that...
Sadly....

And yet, as the ARC masterfully exposed, the Hebrew scriptures contain an account where a man could be stoned to death for raping a woman in a field WITH NO ONE ELSE present. In other words, NO 2nd witness!
