  it occurred to me that the bible has recorded jesus as saying at matthew 15:9.

  How true that is when it comes to the GB teaching that even parents should actively ignore and shun their own children if they leave the society!

  Yes, the very notion that a society or group of men should influence, distort and get in the way of natural human familial relationships is so dysfunctional!

  Great point Searcher!

  They have tried to distance themselves from the craziness of Russell and Rutherford by saying only the current GB are officially god's channel.

  However, when convenient, they try and claim "historicity" of the society as proof of being god's channel!

  GB asks every JW to give Putin their home address

  jw's around the globe have been encouraged to write letters to putin and the russian government.

  they are expected to give their personal details on the envelope.

  i appreciate that this might be normal when writing to your own government if they are tolerant, but is this not a bit strange that the gb want to give putin the address of every jw in the world?

  This whole campaign is STUPID on so many levels!

  1) If the letters are what will "talk sense" into a dictator like Putin, then is Jehovah too impotent to solve it on his own??

  2) NOTHING scream CULT more that an orchestrated campaign by the GB to coax all witnesses into acting as their agents!

  3) Do they actually think anyone from Putin's office will read these letters??

  wow! What irony and hypocrisy!

  It sounds like that classic quote from a WT study few years back (can someone remember where it was from please and quote it?)

  "At that time, life saving direction will come from (the GB). We must be willing to obey it, NO MATTER HOW STRANGE OR UNUSUAL it appears to be..."

  They are certainly getting worried about witnesses doing research and finding out facts!

  hello folks.

  as some of you might know my dad couldnt keep quiet about my view of the world, so i have been "forced" to study with an elder.

  otherwise i would be dragged to questioning, which is to much pressure for a young inexperienced person like me.

  Yes citizen, they can never dare to question "god's answers or direction" as a result of your prayers!

  Use that when it comes to any situation or topic.

  But make sure you come across sincere as you say it.

  because the gb controls it's members by f.o.g does that affect former members to be easily manipulated by self serving people as they start a new life outside the borg?

  the definition of a manipulator according to the cambridge dictionary is a person who controls people to their own advantage, often unfairly or dishonestly.

  sounds familiar doesn't it?.

  It is true that because we gave over control to the society, kind of like "Parental Figures" over us, that situation can occur. We can become gullible or easily manipulated by "parental figures".

  BUT, becoming aware of this situation means that we can be on guard against it.

  Awareness is half the battle.

  Always fall back on this type of statement:

  "I have made it a matter of sincere and earnest prayer, and Jehovah has clearly shown me that....(insert whatever you like)"

  That way, they can never belittle or argue your comment, because you PRAYED to Jehovah about it, and saw "his clear answer and direction" to your prayers....

  So god can provide chairs, but cant stop typhoons?
